Important Covid testing Update:

Beginning Nov. 8, unvaccinated U.S. citizens and long-term residents will have to present a negative Covid test taken ONE day (this is changed from 72 hours to 1 day)before re-entering the country.

- Fully vaccinated Americans will still have to be tested three days before travel back to the US.
Proof of vaccination and testing will be required before boarding the plane and it will be up to the airlines to enforce the measures, including confirming that the record was issued by an official source and meets the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's definition for fully vaccinated.

TSA PreCheck online renewal fee will decrease to $70!!!

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced that it will lower the online renewal fee for TSA PreCheck® from $85 to $70, effective October 1st.

“TSA PreCheck was launched 8 years ago to provide expedited airport security screening for low-risk travelers,” said TSA Administrator David Pekoske. “Our TSA PreCheck program improves overall security and we will continue to look for ways to enhance the benefits of this program for our trusted travelers.”

This fee change represents a $15 reduction in the cost of renewing online, while still allowing TSA to cover the costs of operating the program, which includes performing a security threat assessment and adjudicating applications. Over 95 percent of renewals occur online, as most travelers find this to be a quick and easy way to maintain membership in the program. The cost for an initial enrollment and in-person renewal will continue to be $85.

TSA PreCheck allows low-risk travelers to enjoy a streamlined screening experience at more than 200 U.S. airports and with 80 participating airlines. For TSA PreCheck travelers, there is no need to remove shoes, laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, belts or light jackets. This past month, 96% of passengers in TSA PreCheck lanes waited less than five minutes to go through airport security checkpoints.

US Passport Wait Times are now 12-18 weeks
The US State Department said this week that the wait for a passport is now between 12 weeks and 18 weeks, even if you pay for expedited processing. That's because of ripple effects from the coronavirus pandemic that caused extreme disruptions to the process at domestic issuance facilities and

A department official says a backlog of 1.5 million to 2 million passport requests means that applications submitted now probably will not be processed until the fall.
Rachel Arndt, deputy assistant secretary of state for passport services, said the department is increasing Covid-19-reduced staffing throughout the United States as pandemic restrictions are eased. But she said Americans needing to apply for or renew a passport should do so at least six months ahead of when they plan to travel.

"We really encourage folks to apply for or renew their passport at least six months ahead of when you'll need one to avoid any of those last-minute problems".

The options to cut that time are limited—applicants can pay for the Expedited service, which costs an additional $60, but that only means that the timeframe goes from 12 to 18 weeks to 12 weeks, which includes up to 6 weeks for processing and up to 6 weeks for mailing times

It took booking this trip twice and also a destination change to get Makala, Linda Souder Davis and Dianne Souder to France! Tip 4: Contact TSA for help if there are questions or concerns. Those who are preparing to travel and may have special circumstances, considerations or general questions about airport screening can get live assistance by tweeting questions and comments to or via Facebook Messenger, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST and weekends/holidays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST. You can also call the TSA Contact Center at 866-289-9673.

Tip 5: Enroll now in TSA PreCheck® to “Travel with Ease.” By enrolling in TSA PreCheck, airline passengers can avoid removing shoes, belts, liquids, food, laptops and light jackets at the TSA checkpoint. Most new enrollees receive their known traveler number within five days, and membership lasts for five years.

TSA recommendations to be prepared for the screening process. Here are tips two and three:

Tip 2: Pack smart; start with empty bags. Those airline passengers who begin packing for travel with empty bags are less likely to bring prohibited items through a TSA checkpoint. Technology and modifications help reduce the need for physical contact with TSA officers, but those who take time to come prepared for the TSA checkpoint are far more likely to avoid physical contact. Check for prohibited items by using the “What Can I Bring?” page on TSA.gov.

Tip 3: Consider other ways that might help avoid physical contact at the checkpoint. Prior to entering the line for the TSA checkpoint, take a few minutes to prepare. Place jewelry, keys and other pocketed items into your carry-on bag so they might be scanned with need for fewer bins at the conveyor belt. Have a valid ID card readily available and follow the liquids rule of 3.4 ounces or less, with the exception of hand sanitizer, which has a temporary 12-ounce limit in carry-on baggage.

This summer airports will be pressured to process more customers with Airports will be pressured to process more customers with fewer staff. The TSA warns of staff shortages at more than 100 airports across the United States this summer. Below are some tips to help get through security.


• Check-In Online When Available – Download the Airline Apps before going to the airport
• Confirm Seat Assignments
• Check Passport and Visa validity
• Check Government ID validity
• Customers should be advised to arrive early, plan on delays and pack a lot of patience this summer

The TSA has prepared a list of tips to get through the checkpoints more effectively.

Tip 1: Wear a face mask. Face masks remain mandatory for employees and passengers, regardless of vaccination status, throughout all domestic transportation modes, including airport security screening checkpoints. Since the implementation of the face mask mandate for travelers on Feb 2, there has been near-total voluntary compliance throughout the entire transportation system.

Greece Entry Requirement

Passengers must complete a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) latest on the day before their arrival in Greece. A PLF completed on time must indicate the correct arrival date. Passengers will receive confirmation of their submitted PLF. Families can also be accepted with only one joint PLF confirmation and one unique QR code.

Permanent residents of Greece travelling on international flights from Greece must submit a PLF online one day before their departure.

Along with the QR code proof that they have completed the PLF, passengers from UAE or third countries will have to present their residence permit, work permit, identity card (provided that it states the place of residence), driving license or other document to prove their place of residence.

US State Department Will Honor Expired Passports for Americans Abroad

American citizens who are currently abroad can return to the U.S. without having to renew their passports, if it has expired, until the end of the year.

Passports that expired on or after Jan. 1, 2021 will be honored for re-entry into the U.S. through Dec. 31, the State Department announced Monday, citing delays in passport processing due to the pandemic.

"U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers will accept for admission certain expired U.S. passports, thereby assisting U.S. citizens who have been affected by appointment backlogs at embassies and consulates overseas caused by the COVID-19 pandemic," the State Department's announcement read.

Due to the pandemic, consulates and embassies around the world were forced to cut back staffing, leading to an "unprecedented" backlog of passport services appointments, according to the memo.
