What a wonderful week we have had giving out donations and we couldn't have done it without all of our followers sharing, commenting and voting. We decided that everyone that said each rescue was worthy of a donation was right. We divided up the original amount plus the extra that was collected. All rescues received a monetary donation, a basket filled with cleaning supplies, and a gift certificate for the use of our event center in 2025. We are looking forward to the year to come and supporting these amazing rescues throughout 2025. We have some adorable pictures that we will be posting over the next week. I hope you enjoy this little snap shot. If you haven't already make sure to like and follow our page as well as each of our AMAZING rescues. We all have some wonderful things coming up that you don't want to miss. :)

Today, we will spotlight our final nominated rescue. We want to thank each of these rescues for working with us to help spread awareness to a major crisis in our community. We hope you will take a few minutes to learn a little bit about not only this rescue but all that have been nominated.

TiggerTown, Inc. began in 2016 with a mother, son, and a special cat named Tigger. The way Tigger cared for his sister, while they were in rescue, set the example for the way Tiger Town, Inc cares for the animals in their care. Their motto is "A different kind of rescue." They say this is exactly what they are because they are an in home rescue. This simply means they aren't housed in one facility but they are housed with rescues in their homes. They want these animals to be prepared to be part of their "furever" family.

They are licensed in both Ga and Tn. All of their animals are spayed and neutered, have all vaccines, are are tested for heart worms and treated if needed. All animals stay on flea, tick and heart worm prevention. The animals are microchipped and fed a quality diet. Tigger Town averages 250 dogs vetted and adopted each year.

They have found that our community has so many dumped dogs they often suffer from what is called lost dog syndrome. This is a terrible state of mind for the dogs. The only way to save those dogs that are suffering from this is to trap them and love them back into society.

Tigger Town has just began a new program with Walker State Prison, and Obedience Club of Chattanooga called FAITH HEELS Training. They send 4 dogs into the prison for 10 weeks at a time. While the dogs are there, they are housed with 9 inmates who are trained handlers. Obedience Club of Chattanooga comes in twice a week to teach new things for the men and dogs to work on between visits. This program has resulted in so much healing for both the animals and the men.

Their top needs are small puppy pads, and small training treats for the prison program, and Monetary donations.

Today, our Featured Rescue is Your Local Fur Mama. We want to make sure we take this time to share about all of the rescues that have been nominated. We hope you will take a few minutes to learn a little bit about each of the rescues that are working hard for the animals in our community.

Your Local Fur Mama is a 501(c)3 Neonatal Kitten and Puppy Rescue. (Think 8 weeks and under with the occasional Mama) They serve the tri-state area. Abigale Choi, the founder, started the rescue when she saw the specific need for the smallest of the kittens and puppies. Newborns can be difficult with their need for around the clock care. This also requires fosters to have more specialized training. That is why many shelters and rescues have a hard time finding care for the neonates. Sadly, quite a few will be euthanized due to their inability to provide care to those so young.

Your Local Fur Mama is a foster based rescue. That simply means they do not have a facility and all of their animals remain with a foster family until they are adopted. They provide all supplies that are needed by their foster families, medical care for the animals and most importantly the proper training to provide the specialized care.

Potential fosters are always encouraged to apply and learn all about taking care of some of the most vulnerable animals in our community.

Items they always need is wet and dry kitten and puppy food. You can find more specific needs on their amazon wish list that is linked below.

Today, our Featured Rescue is Possumbilities. We want to make sure we take this time to share about all of the rescues that have been nominated. We hope you will take just a few minutes to learn a little bit about each of those that are working hard for the animals in our community.

The thought of Possumbilities began when the founder was 16 years old and found an injured opossum in the road. She took it to the vet and they were able to do a humane euthanasia so that the opossum didn't suffer. This broke her heart and created the soft spot in her heart that would turn result in the creation of Possumbilities. In 2021 when the founder completed all the state requirements to become a licensed wildlife rehabber. They are the only wildlife rehabilitation facility in northwest Georgia.

They treat injured and orphaned small mammals, amphibians and reptiles. They always strive to be able to release these animals back into the wild. They offer school programs to help educate on how valuable these animals are to the environment.

Their rescue is funded by to founder's second job that provides 80% of the funds needed. They depend on community donations to help offset the needs of the rescue.

Something shocking that is fun to share, is that even though she works with skunks, and rehabilitates them, she has never been sprayed. She also says that opossums are very intelligent animals.

Their biggest needs are dry dog food, goats milk esbilac powder formula, and vegetables.
Their Amazon wish list will be posted below

Today our Featured Rescue is Bully Smiles Inc. We want to make sure we take this time to share about all of the rescues that have been nominated. We hope you will take just a few minutes to learn a little bit about each of those that are working hard for the animals in our community.
Bully Smiles Inc officially opened in 2020 as the first 501c3 and Georgia Department of Agriculture licensed, dog rescue in Walker County, GA. The owner has previously worked with rescues in two states and worked for Animal Control.
Bully Smiles works with multiple local shelters and they take in owner surrendered dogs that would otherwise be dumped into the shelters. They focus on prevention with spay and neuters. Educating owners on proper protocol for deworming, vaccinations, and flea/tick/heart worm prevention. They do outreach by helping provide food, supplies and veterinary services to animals that already have a home.
Something they feel might shock the readers is that this rescue is ran by ONE person and typically only has 2-3 foster homes. They do not allow any of their animals to sleep outdoors or spend extended time outside unless directly supervised.
The top three recurring needs would be mental stimulating toys or long lasting chews such as the Kong Marathon, Purina Busy Bone, or the Indescribable Chew Toy.

Today we will be featuring Bully Me Not Rescue We feel that we have an opportunity to shine a light on all of the amazing rescues in our area that have been nominated. We reached out to each of the rescues and we are going to share some things they want everyone to know about each of their rescues. We hope you take a few minutes and learn a little bit about each of these wonderful rescues that are working hard for the animals in our community.

Bully Me Not Rescue began in October 2023. Upon opening they were immediately filled to capacity. They rescue was started out of the love of their dogs and the dire need for love and care for these dogs. After hearing of rescue horror stories we were determined to do things right. Our dogs have large kennel spaces and are not just kept in crates. Our dogs are given plenty of yard time and we bring everyone inside for some time in the house too. At bedtime, we do treats and kisses for each dog and they are each told they are loved.

Currently our biggest wishlist items would be:
K9 ballistic bed in size extra large
Bayer quad dewormer animal size large
Purina EN wet Food this if for one of their special needs dogs named Gabby.

Today we will be featuring Fraternity of the 4 Paws Inc. We feel that we have an opportunity to shine a light on all of the amazing rescues in our area that have been nominated. We reached out to each of the rescues and we are going to share some things they want everyone to know about each of their rescues. We hope you take a few minutes and learn a little bit about each of these wonderful rescues that are working hard for the animals in our community.

Kelley had worked in animal welfare for 15 years. After returning to Walker county, where she grew up, she volunteered at the shelter. This is where she saw the enormous need for a dog rescue. Her plan was put into action and Fraternity of the 4 Paws rescue officially opened in January of 2023.

They like to share that their journey began with a little white pit bull puppy that later became known as Luna. She was found roaming in a parking lot of a local flea market. They found that this puppy had been born in a shelter adopted out and then sadly dumped. They soon found out that she had a brother that was still in a kill shelter. They quickly went to work and arranged to rescue her brother out of that kill shelter. When the two were reunited it was a beautiful moment and shortly after they both were adopted into incredible homes. This marked the official opening of the rescue. It is driven by the mission to rescue abandoned, abused and neglected dogs, ideally from the shelter, providing them a safe haven where they can heal physically and emotionally. They work tirelessly to rehabilitate these dogs ensuring they receive proper veterinary care, nutrition and socialization. The fraternity is made up of a compassionate team of volunteers. It operates solely on donations and the generosity of their supporters.

Some of the programs that they offer the community include, spay and neuter assistance which includes transporting and paying for the procedure. They offer assistance with whatever need is causing a family to consider rehoming their dog. Some of these needs have been vet care, food, and even training. Their goal is to bridge the gap and to help keep the dog in its loving home.

The shocking fact about Fraternity of the 4 Paws they would love to share is that they receive 5 or more calls each day from people wanting to re-home their dog. Sadly, at this time, no one has taken them up on their offer to help out until they get back on their feet.

A shocking fact, she shared, that applies to all dogs nationwide is that on average, 9 out of 10 dogs born today will never find a home. They will die in a shelter or on the street. That statistic should upset any animal lover. It definitely upsets Kelly and her team at the Fraternity of the 4 paws and is a driving force in what they do.

Their top recurring needs can be found on their amazon wishlist that will be posted below.

Today we will be featuring Perry's Promise, Inc..

When I reached out to Perry's Promise they told me that they wouldn't have the cute pictures of adoptive animals like many other rescues. They stated that just wasn't what they did. This intrigued me and I couldn't wait to read more. I hope that it sparks your interest, and you will continue reading to see what all Perry's Promise does for the community if they don't just play with cute puppies all day.

Perry's promise was formed a little over 5 years ago. There was an overwhelming pet population and strays that were in need. At this time, there were no resources in Walker County. They initially started as a spay and neuter program. They have currently helped over 1,000 citizens in Walker county and the surrounding areas with spays and neuters. While meeting those needs that is when they noticed a much larger problem. People were being forced to surrender or re-home their pets simply because they couldn't afford to continue to care for them. This is when they began providing food, leashes, collars, supplies, beds, dog houses, and anything people needed to be able to keep their pets. The goal was for owners not to be forced to surrender their pets to a shelter. Since the onset of COVID the demands on their rescue have only grown. They do two pet food give aways each year. The last giveaway they were able to give away food, toys, beds, leashes, collars and harnesses to move than 280 people.

Their main focus is still on the senior citizens. Since most are on a fixed income. They have seen many senior citizens give up their own medication or food so they could provide for their companions. Perry's Promise helps fund the senior citizens pets with vet care, food, and anything else they may need to help relieve some of the burden.

They also help area shelters with emergency veterinary care for stray animals that have been picked up. They spoke of a wonderful case where Willow was picked up from a cruelty case. She was emaciated and on death's door step. With the help of Perry's Promise, she became a healthy, beautiful girl. Her determination was exactly what Warrior Freedom Service Dogs was looking for and she is now in their program to be a service dog for a disabled veteran.

The work they have done with the cases that no one else wants to do often aids law enforcement. The director has testified in cruelty cases in three counties. She also works with our state senators on legislation for animals.

The top needs of Perry's Promise each month are financial since they don't have animals in their direct care like a lot of other rescues. Currently they are having to use the directors car for transports, travel and vet appointments because their van has an electrical problem where the alarm is malfunctioning. The electrical problem can only be fixed at the dealer but the estimated cost is $2,000.

Something that would surprise people to know about Perry's Promise, is that while on a pet food delivery, the back window of their van was shot out. They were driving down the road just as the sun had set and the back passenger window was shot out. It was very scary but could have been so much worse.

"It is not always easy, and oftentimes we see the worst of the worst with animal cruelty, but when a tail wags or a senior citizen smiles, it makes it all worthwhile."

Thank you for taking time to read a little bit more about Perry's Promise. There were so many more things that could have been said. I'm just thankful to have had the opportunity to spotlight these amazing rescues.

Today is a very special day here at Rock Spring Resort. We get to celebrate Bessie Sayers today. This is her second anniversary of her working with us. We want to take this time to give her a BIG shout out and thank her for her amazing service. When she started here at the Resort, she was a part time housekeeper. She "swept" us away with her hard work and dedication and is now the head of our housekeeping department. We couldn't offer our guest such a wonderful experience without Bessie. We are so thankful to have you on our team. Congratulations on two years!!

Today we will be featuring North Georgia Animal Alliance (NGAA) We feel that we have an opportunity to shine a light on all of the amazing rescues in our area that have been nominated. We reached out to each of the rescues and we are going to share some things they want everyone to know about each of their rescues. We hope you take a few minutes and learn a little bit about each of these wonderful rescues that are working hard for the animals in our community.

NGAA, Inc is a 501(c) (3) Non-Profit Organization. It was established in 1993 and was established with all volunteers. They operate on the financial support of donations, grants and corporate sponsors. This Mission of North Georgia Animal Alliance is to reduce the number of adoptable animals euthanized at the shelters and promote the humane treatment of animals though responsible pet ownership. Their strategic focus areas are to prevent animal overpopulation though low cost spay/neuter programs for Georgia residents who are in financial need. They educate the community about humane treatment of animals by offering a 24 hour help line (706) 937-2287 and our website that provides information, resources and referrals. These resources offer assistance for a wide variety of questions and needs regarding animals. They provide educational programs in schools and in the community and they support legal action that advocates for the rights of animals.

NGAA feels that something we might be shocked to find out is that they strive to keep animals in their homes by offering assistance to people who are in financial need, with spay/neuter vouchers, vet cost, food, transportation and other ways.

All animals are fully vetted prior to adopting them from Petsense and Petco in Fort Oglethorpe. As you can see in the pictures just a bath resulting in being flea free, and being dewormed, gives them a great start.

I want to share with you their statistics for 2023.
Animal Intake - 601
Animals Adopted out- 223
Animals Transferred to rescues- 390
Foster Animals Spay/Neutered - 187
Foster Animals Vet Care - 100
Owned Animals Spay/Neutered and Vet Care- 450
Spay/Neuter Certificates - 400
Community Cat Care (returned to owners) 279

They were able to assist a lot of animals in 2023 but as any rescue would tell you, there's always more to be done. Some of their recurring needs are food, litter, and Revolution (a medication that kills, fleas and ticks and prevents heart worms) They do have several ways you can donate including their Amazon Wishlist on their website. Remember that all donations are 100% tax deductible. You can visit their website at: www.northgeorgiaanimalalliance.org .

We feel that we have an opportunity to put a spotlight on all of the amazing rescues in our area that have been nominated. We reached out to each of the rescues and we are going to share some things they want everyone to know about them. We hope you take a few minutes and learn a little bit about each of these wonderful rescues that are in our community.

Today we will be spotlighting TMMA Farms & Sanctuary.

TMMA Farms has been rescuing animals for over 25 years. They specialize in alpacas and llamas but do on occasion rescue other livestock in need. When they began it was just a horse here, alpaca there and a llama over there. 3.5 years ago they decided to become a full 501C3 rescue. Currently they have a wide range of different species of livestock rescues. Most of the rescues have been physically, mentally/emotionally abused or have special needs that require extra care that and daily assistance. They currently are on the board of the Southeast Llama Rescue. They help to house, adopt or open their farm for llamas and alpacas that need more specialized help or even to spend their final days.

Many people are surprised to find out that the rescue/sanctuary, that has over 100 animals to care for, is mostly ran by a husband and wife team. They are on call 24/7 for both their animals and calls from local animal control facilities and other rescues that need help with livestock. Putting the animals first is what they contribute to being successful at having a clean, healthy and happy farm and rescue.

They feel that some would be surprised to learn that alpacas are the "newest" livestock in the US. They didn't come into the states until 1980. Because of this, there wasn't specific medications, equipment, or even a lot of vets that were exclusively for alpacas or even llamas. They educated theirselves on any and all information including camelids. They were forced to think outside of the box. They had to find ways to fix these issues, build things to support these animals and give them the best care possible. This is one of the main reasons we chose to transition into a full rescue. We knew were were able to take on the special cases you will see on their farm.

They are currently looking for volunteers. The three volunteers that they had with them have had wonderful life changes that have taken them away from the sanctuary. If loving on animals is something you think you would like to do please contact them.

They also have other recurring needs.
They are always needing specialty hay (Timothy, Orchard and Alfalfa hay). Finding a hay source that is willing to work with them is priceless.
They also have an Amazon wishlist that list for their day to day needs. I will list the link at the bottom of this post.
TMMA Farms wants to remind you that they are a 501C3 organization so ALL donations are 100% tax deductible.
