In 1935, Tillie, a pure-bred Jersey calf, was sent to Shirley Temple from the children of Tillamook as a congratulations gift for the actress being honored as ‘America’s Darling.’
The calf came from the E. M Leonnig Farm. A black velvet blanket with gold lettering on the sides, ‘Tillie from Tillamook,’ was provided by the Tillamook County Creamery association who also paid all the expenses in shipping the calf to Shirley.

…BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT NOW IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM PDT THIS MORNING
THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON…

* WHAT...Sneaker waves possible.

* IMPACTS...Waves can run up significantly farther on a beach than normal, including over rocks and jetties. These sneaker waves can suddenly knock people off of their feet and quickly pull them into the cold ocean waters, resulting in serious injury or death. Keep children and pets away from the surf zone. Keep off of jetties, rocks and logs near the surf zone.
If you see someone swept into the sea do not swim in after them. Call 911 and keep an eye on them until help arrives.

The Rockaway Lions are hosting their Fall beach cleanup. This will be an amazing beach cleanup open to everyone in the community. Kids, adults, and volunteers or all ages are welcome to attend. We hope to see you there!

Advanced Registration: Is required. Please sign up ahead of time to guarantee your spot.

What to Bring: Volunteers are encouraged to bring any personal supplies that will help our resources go further such as garbage bags, work gloves, buckets, trash grabbers, etc. If you bring personal belongings wear a backpack so that you can pick up trash hands free. Wear closed-toed shoes and dress for the weather. Bring a rain jacket if the forecast calls for rain and wear sunscreen and a hat if it is sunny. This event will go on rain or shine. And it is also recommended that volunteers bring a re-usable water bottle to stay hydrated during the event.

What's Provided: Trash bags will be provided.
