We are enjoying getting to know Rockaway Beach and the North Coast of Oregon. It's been fun to be a guest and to work toward being part of the local community.

We plan to visit often and hope we can host you in the cottage or condo soon.

Looking for some extra fun this weekend? Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is offering everyone an extra treat Thanksgiving weekend:

Free fishing days in Oregon Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 29-30

(SALEM, Ore.)—Make fishing part of your Thanksgiving weekend plans with friends and family. Everyone can fish, clam and crab for free in Oregon on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29-30, 2024.

No fishing/shellfish licenses or tags (including a Combined Angling Tag, Columbia River Basin Endorsement or Two-Rod Validation) are required those two days. Both Oregon residents and nonresidents can fish for free.

All other fishing regulations apply including closures, bag limits and size restrictions.

Spending Thanksgiving weekend in Rockaway Beach? This is an event you won't want to miss! It's also fun to take an ornament to hang on the tree. Hint: Hang it securely on the east side of the tree and it has a chance of staying there for the rest of the season!

Are you going to be in Rockaway Beach on July 4th? Would the kiddos like to participate in the parade? See the information in the flyer below for more information, if that sounds like fun!

Both the Cottage and Condo are rented for the 4th of July, however if you're considering another time to enjoy some quality beach time, there are a few weekdays and weekends still available this summer.

Have you been to the Aquarium in Seaside? We had never been so we decided to take a trip and go exploring. The highlight was definitely the seals. They were a delight to watch and seem to each have their own personality. Be sure to bring cash so you can buy some fish to feed them (it's quite the adventure). Also, bring a penny and two quarters so that you can make a commemorative flat penny in the gift shop. (Side note, I know the guy who invented that machine... but that's a story for another time).

PS: There is no bathroom so plan ahead and it's quite small so you don't need much time. For more info here's the website: http://www.seasideaquarium.com. I'd say it's a good "one time fun" event if you are already in the area.

These college students from Western had a great time exploring the Oregon Coast. They even borrowed sand toys from the toy lending library on 3rd North in Rockaway Beach (between the Alpine Coast Cottage and Alpine Shores Condo) to create their own sandcastle masterpieces. They all turned out great and these girls were delightful guests!
