🚨 Hurricane Milton Update 🚨

In the interest of safety for our staff and customers, The Attic Café will be adjusting our hours this week:

With only 70 days till the next adventure, I look forward, with feelings of excitement and trepidation.

First. I’ll be boarding Enchantment for the second time, and was not entirely pleased with my previous experience, 6 months ago, In May. I do admit, my mother’s passing only weeks before the trip, weighed heavily on my mood. Enchantment did not enchant. My interior stateroom had carpet far too worn to be “Royal”, and when I pulled the drawer out, the metal guide fell off, and to the floor. I laughed and chalked it up to old ships. One morning I woke to no water for a shower, that was quickly corrected.
Highlights: Service in Chops, and main dining room were wonderful. ❤️
*Enchantment entered dry dock right after our cruise. I’ll be looking for improvements, hopefully.

Second. Hurricane Helene. I’ve come to love the Tampa, Ybor City historical district. And it’s my favorite place to stay when catching a cruise at Port of Tampa. It’s full of bars, restaurants and shopping. And the free trolley to downtown is a must do. The area was hit hard, and they’re in recovery mode. Not sure what to expect so soon after a major storm. But, I’ll make it fun.

Note: Both of these cruises on Enchantment, are comped through Club Royale. Royal Caribbean’s casino program.
*dry dock is when a ship is removed from service for various purposes, including renovation and regular maintenance.

When looking for a room for the night, it’s about location. Again, our accommodation couldn’t be better. Today we’re enjoying the rooftop at Venice on the Beach Hotel. After disembarking Brilliance of the Seas this morning in Los Angeles, we taxied to the hotel. Arriving early, Jamie at the desk set us with a place to put our bags. And we headed for COFFEE! Hey. We had to be out of the stateroom by 8am. You know I don’t like mornings. The hotel is perfectly placed on the beach, with the Venice Beach Pier a couple steps away, and all the shopping and restaurants on Pacific Avenue just a block away. Downstairs they have a fire pit that I’m sure will be lovely later this evening. Right now, it’s overcast, but a beautiful 68 with an ocean breeze. The hotel small, and feels more like an inn on the beach. Probably not for everyone, but it has everything I need, and the location is perfect. Now I’m putting on a swimsuit to get my feet wet. 😎

After a stroll to the casino. Attention: the casino is NOT a casino. 😂😎 We had lunch at Mi Casita. You all know that I love my margaritas. Guacamole, chips and salsa… tacos and enchiladas, good food, good time. We walked down to Lovers Cove for some photos and enjoyed the sunshine at a beautiful spot on shore. Catalina is a lovely island. Definitely need a return visit, with a couple days to explore. ❤️😎
