Well, 2024 certainly felt like a whirlwind of a year for our household. I can confidently say that we are still getting back to our feet, but we are very aware of how blessed and fortunate we are to be in our new home, as well as have the jobs that we currently hold. All of which couldn't have been done without the constant support of our family and friends. We miss you all greatly, but thank you all so much for all that you have done and continue to do for us.
For all of you who still follow me here through my work page, I can't tell you how much your continued support means to me. I absolutely look forward to what 2025 has in store, and I can't wait to show you all as we progress through it together.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope you all have a great day amongst family and friends. I am thankful for the support from all of you.
I am also very thankful to for giving me a chance to come aboard, as well as for the kindness and support his family shows to my own every day.

Wrapping up another one very soon. The other two are done and ready for close up pictures, then I'll be able to share them as well. Until then, they are both resting comfortably in their cases. We are moving right along, though. I hope all of you out there have a great beginning of your week!

The final components for the harness arrived in the mail this weekend. A special "thank you" goes out to for helping me source the reverse taper audio pots to complete the "bass cut" circuit.

This is the passive treble and bass circuit designed by Leo Fender in the early beginnings of

This circuit, as well as many other wonderful wiring schematic alternatives, can be found in Eric Daw's book on his website. I highly recommend it, especially to all of you guitar wiring nerds out there like me. There are many wiring options to choose from, or be inspired by to incorporate in your own ways. Go check it out!

All those inquiring about who I recommend as Karriker Customs transitions out of state, please feel free to say hello to .
Emiliano has been apprenticing with me for about three years, and has decided to continue work as he sets up his own workshop in his garage. He has really shown great promise as he's learned the craft over the years. He particularly put a lot of focus into solid fretwork, and he continues to challenge himself and improve in many other areas as he progresses. If anyone would be willing to give him a shot, I know he will do a lot of great work in the Sacramento music community in the future.
I thank you all again for all the support you've shown me over the years. It's time for me to pass the torch over, and I hope you all will give him the same chance you all gave me as I started so many years ago.
Good luck, Emiliano! I know you will do great things!

Well, I apologize to everyone for being so vague in my last post, but now that things are official, I can finally share with everyone the good news. The family and I signed paperwork on a new home in Pennsylvania.
"Why Pennsylvania?", you may be asking.
Well, I have been offered an opportunity to work directly with
The family and I took some time at the end of March to fly out, see the area, get some time in shop with Ricky, as well as the Barlow family, and get a good gauge on how we all felt about it. My family and I really enjoyed our time with the Barlow family, as well as seeing the surrounding area, and Ricky didn't seem like he wanted to rush me out of his shop as soon as possible. So, we took everything as a positive sign to move forward from there.
It's a bittersweet thing to close one chapter of life to move forward to the next one, but it's a necessary step in order to continue to progress in our goals in life. This July marks fifteen years of guitar repair and customization for me. That would not have been possible without the trust and support of the Sacramento music community. That support continued to grow, until I was working with many artists from all over northern California, the bay area, Southern California and beyond. I cannot thank you all enough for your support for all of these years.
Getting the call to work with Barlow Guitars is a fantastic opportunity that I do not take lightly. As amazing as that opportunity is, it is still bittersweet to say goodbye to so many clients that I have had the opportunity to get to know over the years and develop great friendships with. I will miss you all, immensely. Each of you has helped in shaping who I am as a craftsman, as well as a person, and I proudly take that with me as the Karriker Customs chapter comes to a close. Thank you all. Sincerely.

Well, I can't divulge too much information right now, but Karriker Customs as it has operated for the last 10 years has come to an end. It's not ending for any other reason than to take the next step. I'll be able to share what that step is very soon, but as things are right now, we'll just have to wait to make sure the new venture is confirmed and finalized.
So, at this point, I will no longer be taking in any more work. I cannot express enough how appreciative I am to the entire music community for supporting me for all of these years.
During this transition, there are many talented local techs in the Sacramento community that will be here to continue to take good care of all of your instruments. I have had an apprentice for the last three years that has really shown great promise in his abilities, and has decided to keep the shop focus on fretwork and attention to detail moving forward. Anyone who is willing to give Emiliano's abilities a chance can reach him at the same shop number I have had for years. I absolutely recommend his work, and can say with complete confidence that he will take great care of your instruments.
Again, thank you all so much for your support all of these years. I will share the news of Karriker Custom's next step as soon as I can.

Shop dogs...she never was one of those. She hated loud noises. I don't blame her one bit though, as her hearing was always much better than my own. But, she sure did like to say hello to anyone who came by the shop. It was clear by her excitement, that she was always of the mind that people were here to see her. She was just gracious enough to also let them visit with me as well.

Now, a family dog...she definitely was one of those. And, she was great at it too. She loved the kids, and was always patient with them as toddler hands would sometimes grab and pull. She instinctively knew that they were the small ones in the pack, and that they were learning and growing. Eventually they became loving pack members that played together all the time. She loved playing with water. She didn't necesarily like getting wet, unless it was a hot day, but she loved to chase and bite at streams of water from the hose. She also loved to play fetch. You would know it was time to take a break when she would fetch one last time, bring it half way back, drop it and lay down and stretch out as she caught her breath. The older she got, the less throws we got in before she would lay down and stretch out. That was okay. The older I get, the more I relate to that sentiment as well. "Let's just lay down, stretch out and enjoy the breeze."
As the days passed by, the less sure footed she became. Her diminishing vision didn't help with that either. Her once unparalleled hearing faded day by day as well.

One of the greatest tragedies of life, is the all too short lifespan of our beloved furry family members. While we will miss her greatly, we are also comforted with the fact that she will no longer be in any more daily pain or discomfort.
We will see eachother again someday, and we will lie down, stretch out and enjoy the breeze together once more.

Rest easy Roxie.

The fretboard on this early 60's was about 1/3 of the way separated from the neck, so it was a good idea to get that cleaned up and reglued back into proper placement. Follow that up with a fresh and and this 'ol beauty is ready to sing for another decade or two.
