🎃 Happy Halloween from O'Shea Travels! 🎃

Did you know that Halloween has deep roots in Irish history? This festive holiday originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, celebrated over 2,000 years ago in Ireland. The Celts believed that on October 31st, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead blurred, allowing spirits to roam the earth. To ward off unwelcome spirits, people lit bonfires and wore costumes.

When Irish immigrants brought Samhain traditions to America, they evolved into the Halloween we know today, filled with costumes, trick-or-treating, and pumpkin carving (originally, the Irish carved turnips!). It’s a reminder of Ireland’s enduring cultural influence across the world.

As you celebrate this spooky season, remember the spirit of Samhain and the magic of Ireland that started it all.
