Today marks the end of our 2024 season and we just want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our wonderful guests, as well as the many people who live and work on the Outer Banks that make it possible. With all of the devastating losses to homes along the shore this season, we are reminded just how fragile this strip of land is. It drives home the importance of our role as caretakers, stewards if you will, of this paradise. We look forward to next summer when we hope to see many of you return!

Good info for our guests!

Did you know that we have 3 handicap beach wheelchairs that we loan out and drop off to your beach house? These are available on a first come first serve basis and can be reserved by messaging our page. Reservation and use is FREE, however donations are accepted. Wheelchairs are only available in Rodanthe, Waves and Salvo.

We just enjoyed a very peaceful week with dinners at Good Winds and Neptunes. The Rodanthe Pier had music most every night and we did various things to the house preparing it for the next 7 weeks of guests.

We have kept our prices the same for three years (against the recommendations of our property manager) trying to make our home a place where families can get together and make memories. That’s been our goal since we bought the house four years ago. We’ve dealt with the theft and damage to the house and for some reason, we’re having issues this season with people smuggling their pets into our no pet home. We love pets but we don’t like the damage and cleaning involved for our overworked cleaners. We have claw marks on our doors and chew marks on various parts of our house. There are plenty of homes that allow pets. Please rent them.

We’ve had so many amazing guests over the years and we always make ourselves available for questions and help. We give our personal email and telephone numbers so that your stay is carefree and peaceful.

Make memories with your families and friends and please treat our home like your own. That’s all we’ve ever asked.

Happy 4th Birthday to Alex’s Hideaway! On this day in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, we closed on our crazy dream! Since then so much has changed. We’ve had to replace the roof and all three front doors, repainted most of the rooms, upgraded all the TVs, re-tiled the entry foyers, added under-deck ceiling over the tiki bar, replaced two AC units and a water heater, added pool heat, replaced the top deck boards, but most notably - added an elevator! That’s not even half of it… So here is a quick montage that touches on some of the highlights from the past four years. Wonder what’s next?!?!

Keep an eye on the speed limit on your way to Alex’s Hideaway! I know, there are parts of NC 12 that taunt you with long, open stretches, but every year we seem to hear about a tragic accident - we want you to make it home in one piece. And don’t count on Waze or Google Maps to accurately reflect these temporary changes, either!

It's that time of year again! Speed limits on NC12 in several areas of Dare and Currituck will go from 45 to 35 mph on Wednesday. Please be aware and SLOW DOWN. The seasonal speed limits improve safety as our area's population multiplies this time of year. https://bit.ly/44D7qPH

We've created a handy online guest information book! 😀 Our guests have always found a hard copy of the guest book in the top floor living room. The book contains a lot of useful information about the house and local areas of interest and we thought it would be nice to make it not only portable via smart phone, but to make it available in advance. Today marks the end of our 2023 rental season and we would like to extend our gratitude to all the families who chose to make forever memories at Alex’s Hideaway. We’ve made significant improvements to the house since becoming owners mid-season in 2020, all with the goal of making it a place that people want to come back to year after year. We hope to see many of you return in 2024! Thank you!

Fill your summer evenings with live music right down the street at Rodanthe Pier. It’s free! While there, enjoy some ice cream or cold beer from the pier house and take a stroll down the pier to see what’s catchin’. Remember that guests of Alex’s Hideaway have unlimited access to the pier with the pier pass included with their stay!

The best part is that they will deliver all gear to you on your arrival day and pick it up at the end of the week.
