One of my biggest pet peeves.

Once one of your people have the courage to tell you “I’m struggling”…..you move heaven and earth for them.

If they are 💯 with consistency, care and work ethic…do it. Can you always help immediately. No. But can you say “I hear you, I see you and I’m going to figure out how to make that happen for you.”

We are not a perfect team. A perfect business. And I’m definitely not a perfect “boss.” But when our people need that time, need those hours, need to just walk away for a day or two…we do our BEST to give them what they ask.

You know why? Because we care. Because we know they will either come back stronger or they will leave to find what is best for THEM.

Work takes a lot out of us. It’s our main focus, our main provider.

But mental health, physical health and emotional stability is just as IMPORTANT to the success of your team.

Don’t turn a blind eye and fix a gaping wound with a small bandaid. It will never work. Temporarily YOU may feel good about YOU but the reality is your people need more than a pizza and an ‘atta boy.’

I cannot STRESS this enough!!!!

Not growing?? Find someone who is better at what you want and learn from them.

Most people are scared to simply say “can you help me.” But the wisdom that someone holds is the gold you need to get where you want to go.

Find that someone. Find several someone’s. And become a sponge and glean EVERYTHING you can from them.

Absolutely. I’m big on momentum. But the processes are just as important to ensure stability and ease.

Anything built haphazardly may withstand a small amount of pressure but eventually your foundation will need to be reinforced if you haven’t given it time to settle in. Fill in the cracks first…growth will follow.

We had explosive growth the first 5 years. But we would be even farther if I had put the right people, processes and procedures in place before year 8. 🫠

A good reminder. Demanding not demeaning. If you lose your cool, you lose respect. You become an immature tyrant.

Communication in tough times can actually BUILD a better bond with your people. They will always remember HOW you made them feel in that situation.

Although we can have our fair share of “slap forehead moments,” the end goal is relationship. The end goal is connection and remedy of a problem NOT making your team feel small to get them to conform.
