Nelson County, Virginia As we told you in this post a few days ago, the Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP) was closed in its entirety due to damage, primarily in North Carolina from Helene. The National Park Service announced Thursday, that portions of the BRP will open Friday morning. This is excellent news....

The Blue Ridge Tunnel Trail remains closed. Do Not bypass the gates and Trail Closure signs from either trailhead. Failure to obey signs and gates / cones may result in trespassing.
We will update the public once reopened and accessible to all.

FLOOD RELIEF DONATIONS

Tomorrow from 9-3 our Nellysford Station will be a drive through donation site for items donated to flood relief in Southwest Virginia.

Please drive around our station using a "clockwise" rotation.

Priority items are listed below:

Premade formula in bottles, baby bottles, baby blankets, food in pop top cans, rice, Ramen noodles, gallons of distilled water, electrolytes, heavy duty gloves, shovels, batteries, flashlights, charcoal, bleach, adult and children OTC medications (Advil, Benadryl, etc.), bug spray/after bite spray, wound care medical supplies, iodine tablets, wipes, bread, peanut butter, jelly, paper products, and extension cords.

With low temperatures predicted on Monday, October 7, the following items would be appreciated:

Heavy blankets, sleeping bags, hand and foot warmers, cold weather clothes for adults and children (thermals, thick socks, jackets, fleece items)
