Keep an eye on your garlic! You are looking for the leaves to start dying back and turning yellow/brown. I went ahead and harvested so I could plant more veggies. Now time to cure!

Here are some photos from our busy weekend: Round Lake Earth Day event and our regular meeting where we discussed alliums. Our garden club topic reminded me that I really don’t use my walking onions often enough, so I harvested some for dinner to go with the asparagus!!

2) April 20, 2024 from 9am-12pm: Celebrating Earth Day with the Village of Round Lake, IL where we will give away FREE SEEDS
3) April 21, 2024 from 11am-1pm: Our regularly scheduled monthly Garden Social on All Things Alliums.

It’s back!!!! We have stocked the Round Lake Area Seed Library at the Round Lake Area Public Library with ALL the packed seeds we have! We will continue to stock as seeds come in and as we finish the odds and ends we have. Admittedly, we don’t have a ton of tomato and pepper seeds this year but donations of cash and commercial seed packets accepted!

While not a direct RLAGC event, this is plant and member adjacent! Two of your RLAGC board members have become stewards of Nippersink Forest Preserve and restoration workdays are starting this month! Not only will you have a chance to work on a wonderful preserve in our "backyard" but you will learn to ID native and invasive plants and get access to Nippersink Forest Preserve that few people have!

The permit office and the Dunn Museum, located at the General Offices in Libertyville will be closed Monday, June 23 in observance of Juneteenth. You can...
