All around the world people are celebrating new beginnings in varying ways & we here at Easy Tours want to bring you all a piece of those celebrations.
Songkran, Thailand’s lively Water Festival, kicks off tomorrow! Spanning three days, the festivities are a blend of merriment, traditional ceremonies, and dousing your friends and family with water.
Day one, known as Song Nam Phra (‘Water Pouring on Monks’), is marked by the largest water fights. Day two shifts focus to family, dedicating time to loved ones. The third day heralds the Thai new year with grand celebrations, delectable feasts, spirited water battles, and more. In major cities, the revelry can last well beyond these days.
Buddhists observe the festival by sprinkling water on statues of Buddha, signifying spiritual rejuvenation and prosperity. Some regions even have large ceremonies for this ritual.
Another aspect of this new year celebration is cleansing; individuals take the opportunity to clean their homes, schools, and workplaces, symbolizing a fresh start for the year ahead.
