Thank You to the City of Navasota for Hosting TBTR’s Quarterly Board & Partner Engagement Meeting!

A heartfelt thank you to the City of Navasota, Mayor Bert Miller, and the Marketing & Communications Manager Taylor Hughes for rolling out the red carpet for the Texas Brazos Trail Region’s (TBTR) Quarterly Board & Partner Engagement Meeting. As a community rich in Texas heritage and a committed TBTR partner, Navasota provided the perfect setting for an inspiring day of sharing ideas and promoting heritage sites, events, and attractions across the region.

Our meeting was held in the beautifully designed City Hall, constructed in 2011 to reflect the charm of the original 1903 building. We enjoyed a fantastic meal at Rail & Rye on Main Street and toured the iconic and meticulously restored P.A. Smith Hotel, which first opened its doors in 1876 (https://www.thesmithnavasota.com/the-smith-navasota).

A special thanks to our TBTR partners in the Brazos Valley and Grimes County area for attending, as well as to Texas Historical Commission representatives Teresa Caldwell and Lance Catchings for joining us. TBTR’s executive director and leadership team were thrilled to witness the energy, networking, and collaboration that made this event a success.

Together, we are preserving and promoting the heritage that makes our region truly & uniquely Texas!

A meaningful day in Bryan, Texas!

The Texas Brazos Trail Region had the privilege of attending the Brazos County Historical Commission November meeting to learn about their incredible preservation projects. It’s inspiring to see their dedication to protecting and promoting our shared history.

We also shared about our own heritage preservation, promotion, and education programs as part of our Brazos Trail Boots 2 the Ground (BTB2G) initiative. Collaboration and partnership are at the heart of everything we do—because heritage tourism truly is a team sport!

Thank you to the Brazos County Historical Commission for welcoming us and to our partners in Destination Bryan and Visit College Station for their continued support in celebrating and preserving the stories that make the Brazos Trail Region so unique and remarkable.

Exciting day in Anderson, Texas! 🎉

We’re honored to celebrate the reopening of the historic Fanthorp Inn State Historic Site, a gem in the heart of the Texas Brazos Trail Region. This incredible site tells the rich story of an important intersection of travel and trade—from indigenous paths to bustling stagecoach routes that connected communities, commerce, and culture.

Step into the 1800s and experience the life and legacy of Henry & Rachel Fanthorp, whose courtship and wedding add a personal touch to this historic treasure. Imagine a time when the Inn served as a hub for rest, fellowship, and communication—welcoming travelers from all walks of life, including notable figures like Sam Houston! Don’t miss the chance to ride a beautifully restored horse-drawn stagecoach and truly step back in time.

Thank you to the town folk, leaders, and volunteers of Anderson, as well as, the Texas Historical Commission for restoring, preserving, and sharing this vital piece of Texas history. Let’s all continue to celebrate the stories that shaped our heritage!

Plan your visit today and explore the charm and history of Anderson, TX and the Fanthorp Inn SHS!
