I was fortunate this weekend to fish with lots of fun people! I fished the upper and middle portions of the Detroit river from the headwaters down to the ambassador bridge. Along with the walleye, freshwater drum, catfish, white perch, and gobi hit 1 ounce jigs with either brown or blue ice plastics. river

Excellent bluegill bite on Lake Saint Claire. Crickets produced the most fish followed by worms. The sponge spider on a fly rod caught a few fish. Best bite was the bewitching hour, just as evening turned to darkness.

I got TWO Master Angler patches for April panfish; a 10+ inch bluegill and a 9" pumpkinseed. Both fish caught on the same day with a bobber and worm. The big ones don't come every trip, this trip I was blessed with two big panfish.

Prospecting the Detroit River Scotts Middle Grounds near Belle Isle for smallmouth. Was a slow day until this smallmouth hit a top water bait at 12:30 PM. Never thought a smallmouth would hit top water on a bright day around noon. Threw drop shots, spinner baits and Neko rigs along sea walls and broken rock shoreline; nothing!

Took today off and fished with Captain Jim Schiller of Optimistic fishing charters . Two smallmouth at the start/end of the trip and this 35 lb 51” musky in the middle. Captain Jim ran his multi species program for me and it was GREAT.

6/28/24 Mom and her son caught a Detroit river bass trifecta; smallmouth, largemouth and white bass off the Canadian shoreline. Green plastics/smallmouth and largemouth. Spoons for white bass. fishing

Fished Belle River Hump drop shotting plastics two days. Early morning bite was best. Caught bass, a few perch and a HUGE drum. Plentiful white bass too. Canadian side of Lake Saint Clair is worth the ride. bass

Five hours of bluegill fishing took the starch out of this young angler. Bite was spotty. Took home 30 bluegills. No keeper Pumpkinseed this trip from Lake Saint Clair.

5/25/24 white bass outing. Started at BASF in Wyandotte then fished Sugar Island with a Lake Erie backdrop. Bite was tough! Threw Kastmaster spoons, rattle traps, 1/16 oz jigs and crank baits. Caught a few on everything we tried.

Fished Muscamoot Bay (between the middle and south channels of the Saint Clair River) in the afternoon. Didn't find any smallmouth but saw six bass boats. Changed areas and fished the south channel shoreline and caught seven largemouth bass and one pike. Bass came on a Neko rigged Senko worm, the pike came on a 1/4 oz jig with green plastic. Fished from 6:30 to 10:00 pm.

Fished bluegills yesterday and walleye today. Smallmouth a couple days earlier. Fun people to fish with AND nice weather makes for great trips on the water.

Jig fished the Detroit River around Wyandotte EARLY this morning. Left dock @ 6:00 am, limit before 10:00 AM. Dark plastic on either 1 oz or 1/2 oz lead head jig. No stinger needed with the 1/2 oz jig. Tried bright colors, but no walleye. Along with 12 walleye, we caught smallmouth bass, white bass aka silver bass and white perch.
