As 2024 comes to a close, we want to end the year by sharing this beautiful rendition of Ave Maria by Reverie Woods during our recent "celebration of community." Ave Maria, a classical music piece by Franz Schubert is a humble prayer and a fitting tribute to WNC.

We had the pleasure to play for a private Christmas event in this unique place.

In Thanksgiving for First Responders

The Hurricane Helene disaster impacted millions, devastating lives and disrupting plans. On October 4, we received a text from a bride searching for a wedding venue after plans to be married in Tennessee fell apart. Helene damaged the venue and road closures added 2.5 hours travel time. The couple are both first responders working in Rutherford County and dealing with all the damages and lingering effects of Helene. When originally planning their wedding, the couple had reached out to us. Unfortunately, we did not have any openings. Nothing had changed. Yet this couple reached out again. To complicate matters, they wanted to keep their original date, November 24. Could we find a way to host their wedding?

Steve is the administrator for Chimney Rock Village, and he is there nearly every day to help with the disaster recovery. The first responders have been integral to the Village’s safety and recovery. We talked about it and decided to cut a long-planned, out-of-town trip short to open the Glass Chapel for these first responders. When the bride arrived for the ceremony, I instantly recognized her but didn’t know why. Then it occurred to me. While in Chimney Rock Village on Sunday, October 6, to help document the disaster, I spotted a group of first responders working. The bride, it turns out, was featured in the photo. I had no idea of her situation at the moment. Call it a coincidence, but we prefer to call it a Godwink, divine intervention! Congratulations and Best Wishes to Emma and Nathan Ensley.

The Helene mud-caked walkways are gone! Thank you Cory and Premier Cleaning. The Glass Chapel grounds looks wonderful. Another happy step toward recovery.

As life begins to return to normal, we especially enjoy seeing tour groups in Rutherford County. Holy Trinity Lutheran Church from Gastonia toured the Preserve and then surprised us with a generous donation for the Chimney Rock Village Disaster Relief Fund. Truly neighbors helping neighbors!
