Throw Back Thursday- Not gonna lie, sort of been in a funk lately. Sometimes 15 years seems like a lifetime ago. I REALLY miss some moments from way back then. This is the first video I ever made. Tank and I on a "dam trip". Things really have changed, but my heart remains mostly the same, plus a few more scars. RAAAAARRRR!!!

Looking for some "adventure" on Sunday. Come out to OMP. Sit in your car with the heater on and your favorite brand of "coffee" and watch the action or rub elbows in the pits with some pretty nice people. RAAAAARRRRR!!!

Ice Race Sun. January 12th. It looks like it's going to stay really cold for the next week, so let's all pray we build enough ice. It will be close. 🙏🏼 🧊

Two-wheel Tuesday. For many years when the water was too hard to boat, we would ride our motorcycles on it! From a young age I have been addicted to adrenaline. Many scars and stories from years of riding dirt bikes and eventually, ice bikes! The Saginaw and Shiawassee Rivers began freezing in the late 1970s and early 80s. After that it was game on! A couple thousand sheet metal screws in the tires, and we were hooked up! Many miles were ridden on the rivers and creeks of the Shiawassee Flats. I ran one ice race in 1983, and not another until 2004 at Albright Shores. It was a National Championship. ALL the planets were aligned that day and I wound up earning two titles! I tried to repeat that day for another 10 years without success. I started announcing and racing the championships around 2008. It was a great time while the winters lasted. I "retired" from ice riding about 10 years ago but still announced races occasionally, especially the National. At one of those Nationals up in Cadillac I met Ryan and Chelcie. They invited me to announce some of their races at Owosso Motorsports Park. We became friends and "OMP" feels like home away from home. What does this have to do with "Johnny Panthering"? The "tranquilitude" in this image will be broken on Sunday with the sound of motorcycles and the smell of race gas!
Watching riders lap around the ice oval will be my "adrenaline fix" for the day living vicariously through them! On Monday the "tranquilitude" will return to "Lake OMP". RAAAAARRRRR!!!!

Throw Back Thursday- Paddling the AuSable River. Back in 1995 I took a crew from Wood-TV out of Grand Rapids on a winter canoe trip. Captured is my good friend Steve. Bruce and Marty also joined us - They were the "photogenic" couple. Gerry Barnaby joined me in my canoe for a segment called "Live at 5". It was a spectacular day, and we had lots of laughs followed by a meeting to wrap up the day at Spike's Keg o' Nails in Grayling. I only ran a few winter trips before I pulled the plug on those "adventures". They will make for good blog posts (IMO anyway) someday. Enjoy the day! Happy New Year! RAAAAARRRRR!!!!
