Fort Matanzas National Monument is the site where the Spanish built a fort. It was designated a United States national monument on October 15, 1924. This is one of the most popular tourist sites in the area.

It's ✨ Oyster Season ✨ and if you're an oyster lover like we are, you'll enjoy them fried, baked, or raw and you anticipate the colder "R" months.

"The outdated guidance is that you could only eat oysters between September through April (i.e. months that contain the letter “R” in the name).
In actuality, oysters can be eaten year-round because of increased food safety handling, more monitoring and accountability for oyster farmers, and the fact that most oysters are now farmed instead of wild-caught." But some believe it's still better to be safe rather than sorry!

If you're in the downtown or island St. Augustine area, looking for the perfect oyster bar, no need to look further. We have a list of favorites for you!

We just checked out a brand new spot, about 5 minutes drive from the house. Today's ✨ Local Spotlight ✨ is Isla Blends!

This cozy and bright cafe allows you space to sit and chill, work, chat with friends, or just enjoy . We enjoyed some refreshing drinks and relaxed there on a sunny and and it was the perfect mid day stop. 🍍🍉

✨ Who doesn't love a lighthouse?! ✨

"The St. Augustine Light Station is a privately maintained aid to navigation and an active, working lighthouse in St. Augustine, Florida. The current lighthouse stands at the north end of Anastasia Island and was built between 1871 and 1874. The tower is the second lighthouse tower in St. Augustine, the first being lit officially by the American territorial government in May 1824 as Florida's first lighthouse. However, both the Spanish and the British governments operated a major aid to navigation here including a series of wooden watch towers and beacons dating from 1565."

🦁 St. Augustine, Florida's Bridge of Lions! 🦁

"The Bridge of Lions is a double-leaf bascule bridge that spans the Intracoastal Waterway. A part of State Road A1A, it connects downtown St. Augustine to Anastasia Island across Matanzas Bay. A pair of copies of the marble Medici lions guard the bridge, begun in 1925 and completed in 1927. It has long been a symbol of the nation's oldest city. Roads & Bridges magazine named the Bridge of Lions as fourth in the nation's top 10 bridges for 2010."

It is truly a site to see. The bridge is drivable, walkable, and bikeable and it is absolutely breathtaking when you see it in person.
