Happy Thanksgiving! While many associate the holiday with the Pilgrims and Plymouth in 1621, the first Thanksgiving in what is now the United States actually took place in St. Augustine, Florida, on September 8, 1565. Spanish explorer Pedro Menéndez de Avilés and his crew held a feast of thanksgiving with the local Timucua people after a Catholic Mass, sharing food and gratitude. This often-overlooked historical event reminds us that Thanksgiving's spirit of unity and gratitude has deep and diverse roots.

Happy Pride! By our count, 651 people marched with us yesterday through downtown St. Augustine, and even more met us at the fort.

This is our largest pride march yet.

Thank you all for standing up for an inclusive St. Augustine with us. ❤️

And thank you to our MC and Grand Marshal Paige Mahogany Parks - the first Black Trans Grand Marshal in St. Augustine parade history.

We all made history yesterday.
