Happy 4th. This was taken inside of the barracks for the Florida National Guard. You see the old shell rock called coquina wall which was the once a part of the Franciscan Friary. The same material was used for the Castillo de San Marco. The fort.

Saint Augustine’s famous Ponce de Leon Hotel. This is a such a pretty city with amazing skies, clouds and palms to set off the red terra-cotta accents of this 1880’s Spanish renaissance building.

I’ve always had a fascination with gates – maybe it’s the mystery they hold, or perhaps a book that inspired me. They’re one of my favorite subjects to photograph. When you’re in tune with yourself and curious about your surroundings, the perfect subjects naturally catch your eye.

Capturing a great photo starts with understanding what you want to convey about your subject. Recognizing compositional principles like symmetry, and knowing what to include or leave out, is key. This is exactly what I teach in my course, Composition by Design. 🌟📸

Look what I just brought home, a Plumeria plant. She photographs great. I love the little leaf on the curtain. I love my iPhone and snapseed. It’s the best way to enjoy the end of the day, taking pictures and tweeking them. It helps me unwind.

Stepping outside of my everyday environment I took a trip to Asheville NC. I applied my Composition by Design techniques to capture the feelings I had for the absolute beauty of the Blue Ridge Trail waterfall hike. Activating the "live" button
in the iPhone or for the android use motion to capture a 3 second video. When viewing the photo choose "Long Exposure" in the drop down menu to achieve this soft effect from the moving water. Tip: also notice how the water placement is not centered in the frame, apply the rule of thirds to avoid stagnant images.
