This celebration is a continuation of the century-old Spanish Holiday tradition right here in the early settlement of St Augustine. The nights of lights continue the tradition that originally was celebrated with the placement of candles in every window of homes during the Holiday Season to welcome guest and symbolize a lit path for Mary and Joseph so they may find a room within their own homes when there was no room for them in the inn.
