Value for money isnβt just about private hot tubs, luxury bed sheets, and higher end wine included at your all inclusive lodge. One of the most important aspects to consider when choosing your lodge is how many people are going to be in your game drive vehicle! A good resort will make sure that everyone has a great view (1-2 people per row MAX) and if they have the room to space you out further or give your group a private car. What you donβt want is three people to a row, four rows deep, and 6 or more trucks all trying to get to the same viewing.βββββββββ.

What time of year is the best time of year to head on Safari in South Africa? Well, of course the answer is it TOTALLY depends on what you want to do and what you want to get out of your experience!!!βββββββββFounder @sydney_zaruba is partial to a late February & early March trip as the weather is still a bit warmer to catch some sunshine, but also entering into the dry season to avoid the rain...and there may still be a few bush babies out and about! #TheBohoDoesSouthAfrica #BohosInSouthAfrica #TheBohoTraveller
Many destinations it is recommended to get certain vaccines or take medications prior and during travel. It's always best to consult with your doctor or a travel clinic to make the best decision for you! In our case for our recent SA trip, the only medication we took were anti malarial tablets, but this is very location specific!
Honestly, you should just stay forever!ββββββββββββββββββObviously, that is wishful thinking, however, at a BARE minimum we suggest 7 days in South Africa. This will be a fairly rushed itinerary, but you can do 4 nights on Game Drive in the bush, and then the highlights of Cape Town for a couple of days - is is an especially great itinerary if you are planning on pairing your safari with a little bit of island time, like in Mauritius, Madagascar, or the Seychelles. If you are looking at a more comprehensive South Africa experience, we recommend a 10-12 day trip, upping to 15 or 16 if you can splurge and take the time away from real life! #TheBohoDoesSouthAfrica #RuggedLuxury #SafariTravels #SouthAfricaSafari
Question: Does the cost of accommodations equal value and amenities when going on safari in South Africa.ββββββββββββββββββONE THOUSAND TIMES YES! But let's preface this by saying that not all hotels are made of the same stuff... and we aren't just talking about fancy linen and a plunge pool. When it comes to service (greeting you for morning game drive knowing your name and your preferred coffee order in hand) and inclusions, you have to know what you are getting into! If you don't book the right lodge, you might get there and realise that there are 25 rooms, and only 6 game drive vehicles...meaning you are riding at least 9 wide per car. Or even worse, there are 10 game drive vehicles and you are all going to see the same wildlife activity and no one ends up getting a good view. On top of that, all inclusive in terms of food and wine, extra special touches, and a once in a lifetime experience - the value is absolutely worth the cost associated, but we recommend leaving the big decision making to the professionals (like us) so you know your dollar is going to the right place. #safari #thebohodoessouthafrica #southafricasafar
We've been asked quite a bit about our level of fear during safari in South Africa with al the wildlife around! While we will always propogate you doing what makes YOU feel safe, we felt completely comfortable under the care of our rangers and trackers, plus all the fabulous staff at the lodge who walked us to and from dinners and breakfast (essential when it is dark out!).ββββββββββββββββββWe have a philosophy with safari similar to horse riding, if you are not comfortable around horses, don't ride them. π¦

If weβre being honest, even a bad day in Italy is still better than a good day anywhere else 𧑠β β β β β β β β β Truthfully, we canβt really think of a time that we wouldnβt want to go to Italy, but here are our suggestions! β β β β β β β β β January & February - Low crowds and reduced rates. Summer destinations like the Amalfi Coast & Lake Como will be closed down and virtually empty, with few restaurants open. β β β β β β β β β March & April - Spring time is here! These months can be rainy, but flowers start to bloom and the weather, while still brisk, is lovely. Crowds are still smaller. β β β β β β β β β May - Shoulder season. Crowds appear, beach destinations open up. The days start to feel like summer but the evenings can be chilly. While you may be able to lay out at the pool or beach club, the water will still be cold! β β β β β β β β β June & July - Busy Busy Busy! Weather is warm *or hot!* and the crowds are here in full force. Expect long waits, higher prices, and hotels at full capacity. There is no god here. β β β β β β β β β August - If you like the feel of baking in an oven, August is the month for you! While August has the least chance of storms and rain, you will want to avoid travelling from the 15th on, as this is the Italian βFerragostoβ and most locals will head to the sea for their own summer break. Many shops and restaurants (yes, even in touristy areas!) will close. β β β β β β β β β September - This month use to be safe with less crowds, warm water, and a bit cooler than August - now September is the most popular month for DINKS to travel. β β β β β β β β β October - Things start to cool down, crowds ease some, and the new oil pressing & wine harvest continues.
