Check out this tip from South Alabama Surf Fishing 🎣 The Skittle Bag Approach: Why Multiple Fishbites Flavors Matter

With pompano already starting to show up and the spring run right around the corner, now’s the time to get your bait game dialed in. One thing I’ve learned over the years is that pompano can be picky, and what works one day might not be the top choice the next. That’s why I always keep multiple flavors of Fishbites in my tackle bag. My go-to lineup includes pink shrimp, electric chicken shrimp, orange and white sandflea, and last year’s surprise standout—orange clam.

I cut them into small triangle pieces, sizing them to what a pompano can easily swallow since they don’t have large mouths. I mix them all together, creating what I like to call my “skittle bag.” Having different options on hand lets me adjust to what the fish want that day and keeps the rods bending.

If you’re fishing the surf, don’t rely on just one bait—mix it up and let the pompano decide what’s on the menu!
