We are grateful for the upcoming opportunity to help more people by moving from a single therapy office to a private suite that will offer THREE therapy offices. Here are some before pictures...before construction turned the long office with the sliding glass door (pictured below) into two therapy spaces!

Another bonus: each office will have a beautiful view of the Fox River!

September is Su***de Prevention Month

Su***de does not discriminate and affects those of every gender, race, ethnicity, upbringing and socio-economic status. It's estimated that more than 44,000 people take their own lives in the United States each year. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, su***de is the 2nd leading cause of death of individuals ages 10-34, and the 10th leading cause of death overall.

There are multiple risk factors and possible warning signs for su***de. With at-risk individuals, it’s important to ask if the person is thinking about killing themselves. Multiple studies indicate that it does not increase su***des or suicidal thoughts. Reducing access to lethal items (fi****ms, pills) is a part of su***de prevention. Listening and being supportive to an at-risk individual can help reduce suicidal thoughts. Helping an individual connect to trusted individuals, a mental health professional or a spiritual advisor can have a positive impact.

The National Su***de Prevention Hotline is available 24/7 at 800-273-8255 (TALK), Veterans, press 1 after dialing. Also available is the Crisis Text Line at 741741. For a deaf or hearing-impaired individual, they can dial TTY 800-799-4889. It’s important to stay connected to the at-risk individual. In immediate risk situations, calling 911 or going to the local ER are options.

I was talking with my trainer at the gym this morning, and he was saying how he found himself feeling a bit groggy…still in the process of waking up. The number of school shootings we have had this year is sickening. And its only FEBRUARY folks! Our country has again been left shaken and bruised (and for some, cut incredibly deep) after the horrific Valentine’s Day massacre that occurred in Florida on Wednesday. 17 people lost their lives.
