Very cool double-tipped Megalodon tooth from Calvert Cliffs!!!!

Noah Zelch found this very rare split-tip megalodon tooth along Calvert Cliffs. Shark teeth are first outlined in a soft tissue scaffold, which then becomes mineralized. It would have been at that soft-tissue stage that the tip of this tooth was split; exactly how or why is not known.

The Susquehanna River.

It is one of the oldest rivers in the world, stretching over 444 miles through the northeastern United States. It's the longest river on the East Coast that flows into the Chesapeake, eventually draining into the Atlantic. This river plays a crucial role in providing water for the surrounding region.

Throughout history, the Susquehanna has been vital for Native American tribes and early European settlers. It was a main route for trade and transportation, with its ecosystems supporting a variety of wildlife and fish. The river's name comes from the Lenape word "Sisa'we'hak'hanna," meaning "River Oyster."

Beyond its historical and ecological importance, the Susquehanna River is also celebrated for its scenic beauty and recreational activities. With its numerous islands, lush landscapes, and historic sites, the river attracts both tourists and locals looking for outdoor adventure and natural beauty.

I've seen this river almost every day my whole life. Swam in it, fished in it, kayaked in it, you name it I've done it.
