Team members of the Airport Foundation MSP, including Volunteer Programs and Travelers Assistance, Arts@MSP and Communications team members toured the MAC Emergency Communications Center and MSP Fire Station #1 this week, gaining a behind-the-scenes view to the MAC's comprehensive emergency readiness capababilities. The Airport Foundation MSP directly assists more than two million travelers every year through Travelers Assistance, and our Volunteers stand ready to assist the nearly 40 million travelers who pass through MSP Terminals T1 and T2 every year!

Brothers Craig and Dennis Fleming, also Airport Foundation MSP Volunteers, were recently honored as MSP All Stars!

The MSP All Star program is a recognition program for managers of businesses across MSP Airport to recognize employees and volunteers who go out of their way to provide excellent service to travelers and airport colleagues alike.

"Dennis and Craig can often be seen in the busy early morning hours helping travelers in the Departures area. They are also relied on to es**rt special needs travelers to their gates," said John Hewitt, Travelers Assistance Operations Manager.

As part of All Star recognition, honorees’ photos are featured on the digital screens in Terminals 1 and 2.

The Airport Foundation MSP is pleased to announce that Volunteer Joann Conney has been presented with the MSP Nice Award.

A Guest at MSP Airport recently wrote, “Joann was absolutely fantastic when I walked up to the help desk looking for last minute assistance for a visually impaired employee who had just landed at MSP. Joanne was so friendly, helpful, and efficient! MSP Travelers are fortunate to have such a fine example of Minnesota nice! Thank you, Joann, you made my day!"

The Customer Service Action Council at the MSP Airport presents the MSP Nice Awards in recognition of outstanding customer service delivered by the Award recipients as reported by travelers. Travelers typically e-mail or call to acknowledge good deeds done by employees and volunteers. The MSP Nice Awards are presented to honorees representing all facets of Customer Service at the MSP Airport.

Ireland Service is Doublin’ at MSP! Expansion of nonstop flights from MSP to Ireland continues today with Delta Air Line’s introduction of daily service to Dublin, which complements Aer Lingus’ service on the popular route to the Emerald Isle.

In celebration of expanded service, on Thursday, the Mactír Academy of Irish Dance performed for travelers in the North Mall Rotunda. Meanwhile, at the departure gate, Musician Karla Colahan with The OK Factor performed Irish music during pre-flight gate festivities. Both musical performances were presented by Arts@MSP, a program of the Airport Foundation MSP.

Congratulations to our very own Mehr Aslani on receiving the distinguished MSP Customer Service Hero Award. Mehr has been a Volunteer with the Airport Foundation MSP's Travelers Assistance program since 2017 and is passionate about helping anyone that needs support.

Every month, Mehr also attends the Saturday morning "Navigating MSP" session that allows families with anxious travelers to experience TSA security screening procedures, explore the terminal, board a real plane and meet a pilot, and go through the steps of preparing for takeoff before their actual travel day!

Mehr also spreads holiday cheer throughout MSP Airport by calling on his good friend, Santa Claus, who he closely resembles, to take pictures with travelers during the holiday period.

Mehr is generous with his time and is a cheerful team player who demonstrates compassion, knowledge and patience to everyone he meets.

More information about Mehr, as well as other MSP Customer Service Hero Award Honorees, is featured in an award display case in the mid mall area of Terminal 1.

The Airport Foundation MSP was proud to help support the 2024 Minnesota Aviation Hall of Fame Awards Banquet on April 20 at which seven aviation personalities were inducted to the Hall of Fame. Each inductee has made a contribution to the progress and development of Aviation in Minnesota and was honored with the presentation of an award and a statement of accomplishments.

The Airport Foundation MSP strives to elevate the travel experience for travelers through MSP Airport, and in this case, Volunteer John Pundsack, along with Foundation staff and MAC partners at MSP, exemplified our values by collaborating to provide compassionate assistance to Mr. Beda to support his immediate travel needs. The Foundation is incredibly proud of John Pundsack as well as our more than 500 Volunteers who directly serve millions of travelers at MSP each year.

He and his partner crossed the southern border seeking asylum. Only one made it this far.

Give To The Max Day is Minnesota’s day of giving and generosity, supporting the many non-profits that help make Minnesota the vibrant community we all know it to be. Once again this year, the Airport Foundation MSP will be participating in Give To The Max Day and we hope that you will consider participating by making a donation.

The Airport Foundation MSP provides a multitude of programs and services which serve tens of millions of travelers who visit MSP Airport every year. Our purpose is to elevate the travel experience and support the greater aviation community!

Veterans Day is Saturday, November 11 in the U.S., an annual holiday that honors those who have served their country in the military, past and present. The Airport Foundation MSP salutes all U.S. Veterans, including many of our own Volunteers and Staff Members, who have served in the armed forces. Your service to our country is greatly appreciated.

The Airport Foundation MSP would also like to recognize the extraordinary work being performed at MSP by the Minnesota Armed Forces Service Center, serving military personnel and their families. We also honor the 133rd Airlift Wing of the Minnesota Air National Guard and Minnesota Air National Guard Museum.

In 2021, the Arts@MSP program was pleased to host an arts exhibition entitled "Century in the Sky," a retrospective on the History of the Minnesota Air National Guard. Shown here are related images from an event celebrating the exhibit as well as some military aircraft that have visited MSP.
