Work directly with owner/buyer to purchase product for busy Western Montana gift shop. Responsible for stock management through timely reorders, new product sourcing, creative merchandising, pricing, promotion and liquidation. Evaluate historical sales data and market trends to create strategies for keeping gift shop merchandise fresh and store inviting and thriving. Effectively manage inventory turns and margin to maximize sales and profitability.
Position goals for 2022 season include: improving inventory stock levels in our high demand souvenir shirt & hat department; finding new sourcing avenues to counteract Covid-related shipping delays and product shortages to ensure store is still fresh and on-trend; negotiate discounts with vendors; identifying trends and planning for associated store displays and fixtures; curating additional local, handmade and Made in Montana items.
Position requires: occasional travel (trade shows); ability to stand, walk, reach, climb ladder, carry (25 lbs) and other physical abilities necessary for effectively merchandising product; proficient in Microsoft office (word & excel); good customer service skills and ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with vendors and staff; self-starting, motivated, creative personality with good time management and organizational skills; ability to work weekends, holidays, evenings when needed to support the store during busiest times; willingness to work on the floor as a sales clerk on occasion to keep in touch with customers and their needs. Buying and/or merchandising experience preferred but we are willing to train the right individual. 40 hours/week, part-time work-from-home is possible, schedule will vary depending on season, markets and store needs. Health insurance, PTO, meals/uniforms and seasonal bonus; salary negotiable depending on education and work experience.
