Make Plans to Attend the Annual Fiber Revival at Historic Beck's Mill.

The event features the very rare running of both the carding machines. The carding machines are dated to 1816 and considered the oldest in the country...only 5 are left to our knowledge & our 2 are the mills originals! The carding machines were restored in 2007-2008 at the Lovett Mill in Tennessee. Many sheep to Shaw demonstrations...sheep shearing, spinning classes, felting classes, dyeing classes, weaving, quilting, hand carding, crochet and knitting.

Washington County Sheep Producers will be serving food.

This event is sponsored by Indiana University Center for Rural Engagement.

Activities begin at 10:00am

Looking for some fun activities in Salem ahead of the total solar eclipse on Monday?
The John Hay Center has you covered! Tomorrow is our big day before the BIG day, and we have some very exciting things planned at The Depot Railroad Museum.
At 3PM astrophysicist, Dr. David Vesper will be giving a talk on eclipses, how they work, and how they affect us on earth. This will be an excellent opportunity for adults and children alike to learn more about this cosmic phenomenon and ask questions.
Following our guest speaker, at 7PM we will be showing the musical classic "Little Shop of Horrors" starring Rick Moranis, Steve Martin, and Ellen Greene. This 1986 film follows a timid florist who after an eclipse finds an unusual plant with an even more unusual appetite!
Both of these events are FREE to the public, and there will be FREE popcorn and candy to enjoy during the film showing.

We wish you all a happy weekend, and hope to see you tomorrow as well as Monday for the total solar eclipse. This will be the last one in Indiana until the 2090s so let's make the most of it!
