Early spring can often be wet and gray, which was pretty much Salem for the whole day today. But my walk around town was brightened a bit with my first glimpse of the Witch House showing off its new color scheme, after the paint work that has been taking place over the past few weeks. I absolutely love the barn red color that they chose. I really feel it adds so much to the historic charm of this 1600’s beauty! 😍🤩

A reminder as we head into Salem's busy season, which starts earlier and earlier each year. We understand it is frustrating, and you may not get a chance to see everything that you want. Please remember that Salem was not built to hold the kind of crowds we see, and will never truly have the infrastructure to support said crowds. We are a small city of around 40,000 and will see over a million visitors over the month of October alone. Be kind, be understanding, and remember that everyone you see came with the same expectations and hopes for a magical experience as you.

Text in photo reads:

If you are complaining about someplace being
-too touristy- or -too crowded-
please take a moment to remember that
YOU are there, and contributing to both.

Keep your expectations reasonable,
and be kind to your fellow passengers
on the ship of humanity.

A familiar face is back on the Essex Street Pedestrian Walk Way. This bright new clock face first illuminated the streets of Downtown Salem circa 1910. Take a stroll by to take in this restored piece of Salem's history ⏱
