A slightly off the beaten path cemetery to explore in Salem is Broad Street! The infamous Corwins from the Witch Trials are buried there under a discreet obelisk. On our visit yesterday I learned that the good folks behind the Leslie's Retreat reenactment have placed information cards at the stones of Revolutionary War figures buried in Broad Street which was cool to see! Also discovered under a tree were these intriguing boards covered in what I have have been told is Chinese writing. If anyone can decipher it I would love to know the significance.

Is this the most haunted house in Salem? Does this famous photograph actually depict a ghost? What do you think?
The Joshua Ward house is built on land that was owned by Sheriff Corwin of the Witch Trials. There is an unproven rumor that he would interrogate victims there and both he and they haunt the property. The photograph is said to depict one of the victims. The story of the photograph is that a few decades ago when there were offices there a photographer with a black and white Polaroid was taking pictures of employees and when he tried to snap a particular woman the Lady In Black appeared in her place! Superimposed on top of her! The story and photograph were popularized in the classic Ghostly Haunts book by the prolific collector of Salem history and legends, sheriff Robert Cahill.
Back when Spellbound was new and there was a real estate company occupying the building they would invite us in for paranormal investigations when the employees reported weird goings on! More recently a friend stayed there overnight, performed a seance, and says a spirit claiming to be Corwin came through!
Currently the Joshua Ward House is a boutique hotel and they do not like to discuss the haunted heritage of the location. So please do not pester them.
A skeptical explanation for the image is that the black halo around the Lady's head is merely a Christmas wreath on the door. I am not sure about that because it partially covers her face. The woman who was supposed to be in the photograph did not have a spectral skeletal face.
Some experts swear that this picture is undeniably a ghost, others say it is an accidental hoax. What do you think?
