They come through going north and south looking for food and good place to give birth to their calves. This Whale Fest is a celebration of their temporary presence in the Bay and other places. Part of the California Rodeo's year-round festivities is the Country Christmas celebration. The Center is located in the historic Southern Pacific Railroad Freight Building, built in 1783 and now the oldest commercial building in the City of Salinas.
