In the 1950s, Freddye opened the first black-owned travel agency in the US. Henderson Travel Services, located in Atlanta, Georgia was run by Freddye and her husband, Jacob Henderson. Henderson Travel Services was the first travel agency to offer cultural tours to Africa.
