My role as a birth doula is to support women and their families during pregnancy, birth, and the beginning stages of parenting. One of my main goals is to help create a safe and satisfying birth experience during labor and delivery. I draw on my knowledge and experience as a doula and mother to provide informational and emotional support, as well as physical comfort. Many studies have shown that t

here are significant benefits to having a doula including a reduction in the number of cesareans, shorter births, and less use of Pitocin, analgesia, and forceps. It is an honor and pleasure to work with families during this special of their lives.

Today we celebrate midwives for International Day of the Midwife! I can't let today finish without thanking the amazing midwives that have delivered all 4 of our babies and all of the midwives I've gotten to know and work with over the years. There's honestly too many to name! I'm so grateful I had a friend encourage me to seek out midwifery care when I was pregnant with my first son. Midwives have made such a huge impact on my life and my work as a doula, childbirth educator, trainer, and now CEO of Birth Boot Camp.

Something we say a lot here at Birth Boot Camp is, "There's a time and a place for everything!" We talk about this at our trainings, in our childbirth classes, at our retreat, etc.

There is a time and place for...
An epidural
Induction
IV Fluids
Monitoring
A vaginal exam
A cesarean
And more!

What's important is that you know your options, know about these interventions, and have chosen a provider and birth location that support the type of birth you want. It's helpful to know when these types of things may be necessary. A Birth Boot Camp class can help prepare you and give you the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about your birth.
