Bear Canyon Suspension Bridge is a kid-friendly hike in Draper, about 25 mins from our rental. The hike is best done early morning or in the spring or fall when it’s not so hot. You can do a loop or make it be an out and back hike. The trail gets somewhat steep, but it’s not terrible. My 4 and 2 year old kids did it with me. I carried the 2 year old on my shoulders most of the time.

Lisa Falls in Little Cottonwood canyon. Very short, easy hike to a waterfall. Great for kids! Takes only about 30 minutes total round trip, longer if you hang out at the falls.

Heugh’s Canyon waterfall in Salt Lake City. It’s a moderate difficulty hike that older kids could easily do. There is at least one really steep part. The hike requires bouldering to reach the falls. I did it with a 6 year old and 9 year old and they did great. Bring lots of water and enjoy the mist of the falls.

Blacksmith Ice cream makes ice cream from very fresh ingredients that you can taste. Every flavor we’ve tried has been delicious. They have some flavors like S’more ice cream all the time, but every month they have new flavors to try. They also have dairy free ice cream that’s equally delicious. This time we tried Blueberry lemon and Royal Dutch. Every ice cream is made with real ingredients- s’more ice cream has real toasted marshmallows and grilled pineapple has, you guessed it, real grilled pineapples. Definitely go and give it a try for yourself. You won’t regret it!

It’s HOT outside! City Creek mall is a great place to go not only to shop, but to play! In the food court there’s a fun place for the kids to run around and climb. It’s a great place to go to beat the heat and let the kids get their energy out.

Eggs in the City is an easy 5 minute walk from our rental. We love everything we’ve had there. It’s kid friendly and delicious! Our favorites are the chicken and biscuits (the gravy is AMAZING), pancakes, French toast, and breakfast burritos.

It’s hot outside! One way to cool off is going to this small splash pad at Millcreek Common. It’s located right next to a skating rink and a Public Market. There’s shade and seating and a Normal Ice Cream truck if you want a sweet treat as well.

A walk around Silver Lake is a great way to get out in nature if you’re not a fan of hiking. It’s located up Little Cottonwood canyon just past the town of Alta. You can visit the lake anytime of the year. It’s especially beautiful in the fall.

Summers in Millcreek are jammed pack full of fun with its annual Venture Out! series. The first event is Friday, June 7th at Canyon Rim park starting at 6 pm. It’s an event for the entire family!

If you’ve never been to a rugby match, I highly recommend you check out Utah’s Warriors. It’s non-stop action. If you have no idea what’s going on, you’ll likely hear someone nearby explaining what’s going on. They also have people wearing Rugby 101 shirts that you can ask as well. It’s also entertaining to hear the die hard fans yell at the referees. 😂

Exciting things are happening at our property! We are re-landscaping our yard to be more water wise. It’ll still have some lawn, but it’ll include a dry creek bed and lots of drought tolerate trees, shrubs, and flowers. It’ll take time for it to be what we envision, but we are excited to get started!

Cross E Ranch Spring Festival is fun for the whole family. They have lots of adorable baby animals and many activities for kids of all ages to play. Don’t miss out on their delicious apple cider donuts when you go!

Spring is a great time to visit Salt Lake City! The weather is warming up, there is still snow in the mountains, and plants are starting to get color again.

We are planning what water-wise plants we want in our garden, so we went to Red Butte Gardens to see all the beautiful plants that thrive in Utah.

Red Butte Gardens also has a natural area with many hiking trails to explore.

Tonight we tried Mana Thai Cafe, which is about a 3 minute walk from our property. Our favorites were the mango curry and Pad Thai. Plenty of food with leftovers.

Thirst Drinks is a great place to stop by for a quick drink or delicious treat. They have a variety of pretzel bites, cookies and customizable drinks. Their Cadbury egg cookies are delicious. We also got a sneak peek of their cookie croissant. Yum!

Millcreek Common has some exciting things happening in the near future, including a Doxie Derby! After the Easter egg hunts in the morning, go check out this event. It’s sure to be very entertaining.

My kids spend HOURS at the Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum in Salt Lake City. It’s the perfect place to go when the kids are bouncing off the walls and making messes at home and you’re just DONE. There are STEM activities, numerous imaginative play areas, and even an area to play with water. It is a great place for kids ages 1-12 years old.

A beautiful place to visit in SLC in the Spring is Red Butte Gardens. There are paved walkways, but there are also many hiking trails you can follow to enjoy all the plants and flowers.

Spring is an excellent time to visit the Tracy Aviary in SLC. It’s peaceful bird park located within Liberty Park. If you go as soon as it opens, you can see birds being taken on walks around the aviary.

Tonight we ate at Gurkhas- Indian and Napali Cuisine for dinner. It had a wide selection of vegetarian and non vegetarian curries and Naan. Our favorites were Paneer Tikka Masala, Lamb Curry, and coconut curry. As a bonus, there is a great view of Mt. Olympus from the restaurant.

The next local small business we’re highlighting is Parfé Diem. It’s the first gourmet pudding shop in SLC. We tried the lemon blueberry and Cadillac OG (Dulce de leche) flavors and they were both delicious! You can order online for pick up or delivery. Go ahead, check them out!

Today the boys and I went to Millcreek Common’s Public Market to check out the local vendors who set up shop there today. We discovered this local small business that makes DELICIOUS toffee. We tried the Churro Toffee and couldn’t stop eating it. I love that it had 3 layers of different flavors. It was just perfect. Check it out for yourself!
