The Image Flow invites photographic artists closely tied to the LGBTQIA2+ community to submit work to our 2nd Annual juried photography exhibition Queer Conscience 2024. It is a precarious time to be a queer person today, as many forces conspire to limit the ways in which we live and express our very identities. Despite the seemingly relentless waves of legislation targeting queer and especially transgender individuals in the U.S. and beyond, the world seems to be growing ever more queer. New studies show that nearly 30% of Gen Z adults identify as LGBTQIA2+. Queer Conscience seeks to push back against these forces and affirm our own truths through the photographic medium. In this juried exhibition set to coincide with Pride month, we ask queer artists to share their truest journeys with us, and join us in celebrating our community with a clear conscience. Deadline to submit is Friday, April 5, 2024. Join us Saturday, February 3rd, 5-7PM for an opening reception with the artist. This body of work was printed by The Image Flow right here in San Anselmo prior to being shown at @thesedays.la gallery in L.A. and, most recently, at the renowned @pier24photography in San Francisco. Library of Congress Exhibition Curated by: Stuart Schwartz On view at The Image Flow: August 7 - September 29, 2023 The Library of Congress website is a fascinating place to look through historic images. With it’s enormous photographic archive, one can spend countless hours on historic journeys traveling through the United States and worldwide. Many now famous photographers, including Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, Walker Evans and Gordon Parks, have contributed to the Library of Congress. Edward S. Curtis has over 2,400 images archived in the Library of Congress. In a tribute to one of America’s early pioneers of photography, Stuart has culled through hundreds of photographs to put together a small collection of images from Edward S. Curtis. Pinhole photography means slowing down. It means maybe making only two or three frames of film count for an entire day. It’s beautifully primitive and simplistically pure. Feel unbridled.
