The iconic safari company has announced that it has sold 58% of its shares to two groups, one of which has a Founders Board that reads like a Who’s Who of the world’s billionaire philanthropists. Safarious deputy editor, Tony Weaver reports:

Well Done Map Ives

It was a huge privilege for me to chat with Map Ives. I was 19 and doing work experience in Botswana when I met Map for the first time - it was like meeting Dumbledore. He has had an enormous influence on my entire safari career. If I could have only chosen one safari guide to emulate it would have been him. This conversation isn't about guiding however. It's about rhino conservation, and Map is now the man in the hot seat when it comes to rhinos in Botswana. The conversation goes live tomorrow (Friday, May 6) at 12pm Sydney time. Here is the link - you can listen to the introduction:

Years of poaching have pushed Africa's Black rhinos to the edge of extinction. A determined conservationist aims to reverse that — one 3,000-pound airmail delivery at a time.

This leopard mother and cub photo by Singita field guide and photographer Ross Couper tonight became, within four hours, the most 'liked' image on Singita's Instagram page (www.instagram.com/singita_). It's no surprise: an astonishing image. Ross is also responsible for the second most popular image from Singita, the equally remarkable lion pride parade.

So we thought it a good moment to publish the Top 10 'liked' images from Singita since we launched the IG account 18 months ago. Leopards are the subject of three of the Top 10 slots but are outweighed, so to speak, by photos of elephants: they feature four times. The early morning lion parade, a baby rhino and cheetahs also feature: Mums and Cubs photos dominate the order.

We hope you enjoy the slideshow and visit, and follow, our IG account. More than 5,000 already do. And don't forget to tag your images and hashtag - we are always delighted to feature and credit your photos on our IG page. Half the images come from guides - the other half from you!
