March 29 is International Mermaid Day. While a relatively new holiday (2018), the mermaid myth has been around for thousands of years, dating back to the Babylonian Period. The half human-half fish has mystified sailors and land dwellers alike all over the world.

Mexico has a famous mermaid, Tlanchana, who hails from the modern day towns of Lerma, Metepec and Toluca. This little mermaid would love to share my fishy tales/tails with you in Mexico 2024. Stay tune or tuna for specific dates to Mu***os and Noche de Rabanos. 🧜‍♀️ 🧜‍♀️ 🧜‍♀️

Day of the Dead altars are made as a way of remembering and honoring deceased friends and family. The altars help guide the spirits back to the land of the living on the Noche de Mu***os on the night of November 2.

Incense, flowers, candles, clothes, and food are left out to lead the dead to the altar and their waiting families, who spend the night in the graveyard singing, playing music, eating, drinking, and remembering. Learn more about the culture in person!

Gracias a Dios prides itself in it sustainable practices, planting three agaves for every bottle produced. They use traditional methods of production, including wood-fired ovens and donkey-pulled tahonas. The organic espadin in the spirit is 8 years old at harvest and double-distilled. It is bottled without further aging. Smoke and peppery spice tickle the nose as zesty grapefruit and lemon fold into the palate.
