This past Saturday, we joined a special bike build event for Earnabike's 10th anniversary at the Westside Family YMCA! 🎉🚲

The AAMPO team shared bike safety tips through a special Street Skills presentation, helping young riders build confidence and learn how to navigate safely.

Thanks to Earn-A-Bike for including us in this event to celebrate active transportation and healthier communities!

San Antonio’s extensive Greenway Trail System is a lasting achievement of former Mayor Howard Peak, whose leadership turned a vision for connected parks and paths into reality. Today, as we honor his legacy. With over 50 trailheads, 1,600 acres of natural open space and 100 miles of trails, the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trail System offers residents opportunities to explore, exercise, and commute.

Drumroll, please! Announcing the winners of the Alamo Commutes WALKtober Challenge! The four winners recorded a total of 255 walking trips resulting in 255 miles not driven, saving a combined 228 pounds of emissions and $177.00 and burning 24,995 calories! 😮

WALKtober has officially wrapped up and what a month it’s been! Through 15 community events, we connected with over 2,183 individuals, raising awareness for pedestrian safety and healthier ways to get around. A big thank you to our friends at Safe Kids San Antonio for being incredible partners in spreading the word and creating impact. Thank you to everyone who joined us and took steps—literally—toward safer, more walkable communities!

Today marks the 24th anniversary of Texas' last "deathless day" on the road. Since Nov. 7, 2000, we’ve tragically lost 55,578 lives in motor vehicle crashes. The leading causes? Failure to stay in lane, alcohol, and speed.

TxDOT reminds everyone to:
✅ Buckle up – EVERYONE in the car needs a seatbelt
📵 Put your phone away – Stay focused and avoid distractions
🚫 Never drink and drive – Always have a sober ride
⚖️ Follow speed limits – Slow down, especially in bad weather
