Did you know 🤔
1) Travel agents like me make commission on hotels/resorts, ocean cruises, river cruises, destination weddings, group tours, rental cars, some transfers, and excursions.
2) We don't make commission on airfare. The airlines stopped paying commission years ago. 😢
3) We only get paid our commission AFTER you travel.
4) You don't pay our commission, the supplier does. ‼️ If you book direct, the supplier keeps the commission they would have paid us.
5) We can usually get you the same price (or sometimes even better) as what you can get online.
6) We have access to exclusive promotions at times that you can only get by booking through us.
7) We service your booking, meaning we keep you informed of policies, cancelation dates, payment due dates, passport expiration dates, flight changes, check in/check out times, seat selections, dress codes, confirmation numbers, and more.
8) We're your advocate if something goes wrong and work to find a solution.
Did any of these surprise you?
There are a lot of misconceptions about travel agents, so I hope you found this helpful and enlightening.
H/T Maria Northcott for the excellent post.
