Spring has sprung in Texas! So many of the usual spots (like Johnson City or Wimberley) are great for seeing bluebonnets! Take Highway 16 from Llano to Cherokee, then take a right to Bend you- won't be disappointed. 🪻

Bluebonnets are here!🪻With the arrival of spring, we welcome our state flower, which can be seen everywhere from the rolling countryside of the hill country, to road sides throughout the state. It’s not uncommon to see Texans hop out of their vehicles for a quick photo with these beautiful flowers.
Despite this, bluebonnets were NOT the first choice of male legislators, who favored the cactus or cotton boll. “The men being gentleman basically ceded to the wishes of the women and that is how the “bluebonnet” became the state flower,” noted Flo Oxley, of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Who doesn’t love a coffee bar?☕️ This is one of our favorite little features at our charming Dripping Springs property. Most of our guests come for the sunset views 🌅, private pool👙🩳, and hot tub, but the inside has plenty to enjoy, as well! Minutes to downtown Dripping Springs, Texas, distilleries, wineries🍷, shops and restaurants. We never want to leave!

There is always beauty and life to be found in the harsh desert, and the prickly pear cactus is one of my favorites as it produces vibrant flowers and edible fruits even in the toughest environments.
The flowers are usually yellow, although they can also be orange, red, or pink, and attract pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and birds. After pollination, the cactus develops fruits known as prickly pears ranging in color from green to red or purple, and they have a sweet, juicy flesh that is great for jams, jellies, and beverages.

How cool is THIS?!! We continue to have 4-legged visitors at our new vacation home outside of Austin (COMING SOON!!!) but this is truly unique! Our new friend is a Texas tortoise. They live to be up to 60 years old and are a protected species, dwindling very quickly due to intensive agriculture. We imagine he’s towards the end of his life, based on his size, but he couldn’t be more docile. We’ve literally never seen such a large turtle (in person), with such unique characteristics. TOO COOL!!!
