Every year on December 7, a profound sense of unity and remembrance fills the air as Pearl Harbor Survivors, veterans, and visitors from all walks of life gather to honor the memory of the 2,403 brave souls—service members and civilians—who lost their lives during that fateful day in 1941. This tragic event not only marked a turning point in history but also left an indelible impact on families and communities across America. Sending wave over maritime history.
The attack resulted in the heartbreaking loss of 1,178 individuals who were injured, and it led to the sinking of two iconic U.S. Navy battleships, the USS Arizona and the USS Utah, along with the destruction of 188 aircraft. Each of these losses represents a story, a family left to grieve, and a nation forever altered.
In honor of this day, August 23, 1994, the United States Congress decreed December 7 as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, ensuring that we never forget the sacrifices made on that day. Each year, poignant remembrance events unfold at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, culminating in a heartfelt commemoration ceremony on December 7. It is a time for reflection, for honoring those who served, and for reminding ourselves of the resilience of the human spirit in the face of tragedy.
Let us cherish the memories of those who fell, embrace the lessons learned, and carry forward the spirit of unity and peace that their sacrifices represent. For those interested, heartfelt videos of these solemn events can be found in the links below, allowing us to share in this important remembrance together.

Join us in celebrating the Star of India on her 161st Birthday—what a milestone!
Everyone is welcome as she’s FREE to the public today only, and we’re also happy to accept donations to board. We’ve got a whole weekend planned to celebrate her and the amazing heritage she represents. Did you know the Star of India is the world’s oldest active sailing vessel and the oldest iron-hulled merchant ship still afloat? She was launched as the fully-rigged ship Euterpe at Ramsey Shipyard on the Isle of Man back in 1863!
She’s sailed around the world 21 times, bringing people together. If you can’t make it in person, we’d love for you to donate online to help keep her sailing for years to come. Share this to see her story sail!

We Are world connected by water. We have always asked “what is on the horizon?”
Tourism is more than just exploring new places—it’s a powerful force that brings people together. Every destination has a story, and by experiencing these stories, we better understand where we come from and how those histories shape our future.
Travel opens doors to diverse perspectives, cultures, and traditions. It reminds us that the world is interconnected, and that by learning from each other, we foster empathy and understanding. Tourism bridges gaps, creating shared experiences that guide us in a constantly changing world.
On this World Tourism Day, let’s appreciate the journeys that have shaped who we are and continue to inspire where we’re headed.

View from the deck of the Star of India on her most recent outing last November for her 160th birthday. Great panorama as she sails back in from the open ocean past the Carrillo National Monument on Point Loma peninsula.
