Although you can see gray whales as they migrate yearly off the coast of California, if you want to see them up close you have to go to Baja. And that's where we will be this next week! Hope to post some photos and videos of the experience, but in the meantime, our office is closed. We will have intermittent access to email, but our booking calendar is up to date and you can purchase tours in our absence. We'll be back to the office on March 4th.

Located in Ingram Plaza, this flagpole was originally at the entrance to the Naval Training Station (later Center) when it was commissioned in 1923. The plaza is named after Osmond Ingram, the first American sailor to die in World War I when his ship was attacked by a German sub in 1917. He was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously for his attempt to save his ship and fellow sailors. Now known as Liberty Station, the Naval Training Center oversaw the basic or advanced training of over two million men and women over the course of seven decades. On several of our tours we'll find gopher holes, lots of them. Gophers can be very destructive critters who build extensive tunnels and can ruin a lawn or garden seemingly overnight. Rarely do we see them, however, until now! This little guy really wanted a specific leaf, and eventually got it.
