Methods and techniques for our plank removal (besides dynamite).
Putting the final waterline planking in. The waterline on wooden boats is the place that endures the most difficult environment. Constantly alternating between wet and dry, cool and warm, oxygen versus oxygen deprived. The wood and fastenings degrade in these areas faster than others. But “fast” in boats is a relative term. The planks and fastenings being replaced are 55 years old. That is a lot of service. And it’s likely that these new boards will last at least as long (assuming the Compass Rose is still arround to reach 110 years of age).
