We love the San Diego Zoo Safari Park - and their clever posts here on Facebook. If you bring a car to Bluhaus, it’s about a 40 minute drive to get there (the zoo in Balboa Park is closer). The experience is well worth the drive!

This little oasis called Scuderie Italia is our go-to place for authentic Italian food - especially their pizza. Our favorite is the Margarita with Prosciutto added. Its fresh tomato and basil flavors, along with the prosciutto makes it exceptionally tasty.

When running errands in Pacific Beach, we love a quick bite at 55 Thai Kitchen near the corner of Ingraham and Garnet. For only $6, they serve a delicious Tom Kha soup. You can sit inside or outside, along Garnet.

Today, Bluhaus got a nice upgrade in the living room: a super comfy bubble chair. This replaces our older tulip shaped chair that was beginning to show some wear.

Our new bubble chair is as comfy as sitting on a cloud. We hope our guests will enjoying as much as we do!

Whenever we stay at our beloved Bluhaus, we can’t wait to see our friends from Mi Pan Bakery at the Tuesday Farmers Market in Pacific Beach, or at the Saturday Farmers Market in Little Italy.

Mi Pan Bakery‘s Sourdough loaf is the best artisan bread we have found on this side of the Atlantic! Unlike San Francisco Sourdough, it doesn’t taste sour but perfectly balanced. It has a perfect crust and a softer, moist inside that makes it perfect for open faced or regular sandwiches.

Our trick to keep it fresh: Leave it in the closed paper bag, with the cut end facing downward. If you still have anything left after 3 days (unlikely, given how good it is), store it in a plastic bag.

Passengers aboard a whale-watching tour that departed from Dana Point were treated to a spectacular sight as two humpback whales gave the performance of a lifetime.

Visiting San Diego gives you plenty of opportunity to enjoy delicious, healthy food. At Bluhaus we provide you with a fully equipped kitchen to make your own dishes.

So, where do you go for the best ingredients? San Diego has multiple Farmers Markets. Our favorites are the Saturday Farmers Market in Little Italy and the Tuesday Farmers Market in Pacific Beach.

There you can find fresh produce, fish, hummus, and the best artisan bread we found on this side of the Atlantic!

Our beloved neighborhood food truck Mr. Shawarma recently graduated to a brick and mortar location on Garnet Street (Congrats, guys!).

This made room for new food vendors - a taco trailer from Wednesday to Sunday and the_fried_guys on Mondays and Tuesdays.

These three young entrepreneurs have figured out how to make fries exciting again, with different seasonings and other combinations. Their enthusiasm is admirable, as they are test marketing their recipes.

Check them out when you are in Pacific Beach - they are at the corner of Ingraham and La Playa.
