We recently flew from LAX to Doha in Qsuites taking advantage of Qatar’s Flexi award availability. ✈️Although Flexi awards are double the cost of saver awards, it allowed us to pick nearly any date or flight we wanted.

You can reduce the cost of Flexi awards with a few tips:

➡️ You can use a transfer bonus for any of the Avios programs and move them to Qatar. Amex has a 30% bonus to British Airways, which makes a 140k Flexi award only 107k Amex MR.

➡️ The Qatar Cardless card offers Gold status for the first year, which comes with a 5% discount on Qatar awards (including Flexi awards), and reduced award cancellation/change fees.

Alaska Mileage Plan also recently gained access to some Flexi award space, albeit at an unattractive price. You can toggle showing these in the Seats.aero Qsuites finder. 👀

China Airlines A321neo TPE/NRT

We booked this 3 hour flight from Taiwan to Tokyo-Narita for only 30,000 Delta SkyMiles in business class, one of the few times we are happy to have Delta miles! The A321neo might be a narrowbody but has a very modern lie-flat cabin, with great food and even Bluetooth support for the IFE.

There’s tons of availability on this route that you can easily find with Seats.aero, and you can even book connections like HKG/TPE/ICN for only 30,000 Delta miles in business class. You can also fly TSA/HND if you are lucky, which is closer to both cities themselves.

We booked three seats on JFK/HND in ANA’s The Room this week! ANA opens up last-minute inventory when there are unsold seats, and we got lucky to get three seats together on this amazing hard product.

We flew the daytime departure where we got a great meal service after takeoff (I picked the beef filet), as well as plenty of Ippudo ramen anytime after departure. The seats provide plenty of privacy but let you lower the center divider when you like.

We landed in Haneda at 5pm the next day, with no lines for immigration and customs. Haneda is much closer to the city center so it was just a quick ride to our hotel.
