At my first big radio show job in Kansas City, I realized I needed to make more each month to take care of my son's medical bills. So I went into the General Manager and asked for a raise. He said that I could give myself a raise if I took myself off the air with my morning show, I could join the sales staff and give myself a raise.

One of the best investments he made was to take the sales team to see Zig Ziglar at a stadium event for sales people. I have since gone to Zig's amazing events every other year for forty years, and requested extra tickets to bring my sales teams.
