What makes the trips I plan so special is that I'm not selling you a tour, I'm creating an experience. I've been to all the places I send my clients, I meet the guides in person. I stay at the hotels, walk the cities, do the excursions, take trains, rent cars, go to the markets, try each restaurant. I do the legwork for you so you don't have to, you can just show up and take it all in. I feel I ca

n offer my clients a very personal approach to traveling through Europe, where the only surprises are good ones! I specialize in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, UK and now Croatia! Have a look at my website for specifics on each country and the various regions I can send you: www.ciaobellatours.com

Our trips comes in various shapes and sizes. Some clients want the entire trip planned for them, others prefer more of an "a la carte" style where they include day trips or excursions to their already existing itinerary. Some need help arranging an event or special occasion. Although we are a registered LLC in California, I live mostly in Europe throughout the year. Most importantly though, I am a traveler myself. Like a lot of you, I could sit and "talk shop" all day, where we've been, what we saw, how we felt. When I travel I seek out really personal experiences and endeavor to share those with my clients.

Monte Argentario: Where the Soil Meets the Sea

I was most excited about this portion of the trip, getting to know more about the Tuscan coast before digging into some serious Etruscan sites inland. Monte Argentario did not disappoint! Beautiful port towns, luxury hotels, olive oil producers and agriturismos.... even searching for the elusive Tuscan flamingo! 🦩

Sunday mornings are some of my favorite moments to get out and explore those smaller Tuscan towns we only dream of.

Today's discoveries: Castiglione d’Orcia- a delightful hilltop village in Val d'Orcia where I found locals chatting and having their morning coffee in the square. Almost everyone I passed said "buongiorno" and gave me a smiled. There is a castle on the top of the town, some small shops and a handful of restaurants. A perfect choice for a less touristy experience.

But the highlight of the day for me was the Abbey of Sant’Antimo. As I drove down into the valley, I found her almost glowing in the sunshine, as if she was waiting patiently for mass to start. It was a striking sight to see.

Kiss the Chef! 💋
Aglione is a variety of garlic typical of Val di Chiana, located in Southern Tuscany. It differs from regular garlic due to its large grapefruit-like size and has a much more delicate flavor. The locals call this "kiss-proof" garlic. My lunch today with regional pici pasta, tomato and aglione in the hilltop village of Monteverdi

Another lucky break! Driving by this house not once but twice today, I knew it was a sign I had to see it. A quick call to the owners and I was invited in for a private viewing. The most stylish luxury guesthouse I’ve seen yet. The pièce de résistance? A tiny chapel in the garden. I could barely contain my delight when the doors opened and the blue interior was revealed! 🤯

An impromptu stop at a beautiful winery deep in the Tuscan countryside down an unmarked road. I flashed my business card and my American smile and received a private tour of the cellar. Sometimes it pays to get a little turned around🍷

I've seen some amazing accommodations in Tuscany the last few days, all incredibly unique! From converted farmhouses to 3rd generation wineries with only a handful of rooms, to former monasteries now 4/5 star boutique hotels, even a 1,000 year old post office turned secluded luxury getaway. They all have their special charms. It just goes to show you there really is something for everyone!

It’s impossible to put into words how truly stunning the Piemonte region of Northern Italy is, so I’ll let the photos from the last few days do the talking. I’m so happy to be back, scouting new locations for our clients and working my way down the list of amazing wines and local dishes. There are some fabulous experiences to be had here, truffle hunts, monasteries and castles, hiking, biking, cooking classes and wineries..... this area is rich in so many ways!!
