Today for lunch I visited the touted Elephant Garden on the strip in Zicatella. This place lived up to its reputation and offered a charming atmosphere across the beach and healthy and tasty food options. I'll definitely be back when I'm back in Puerto Escondido in March 2025.

DAY 3 - Visiting Puerto Escondido Beaches

I explored Puerto Escondido's beaches today, mostly on foot (my blistered feet can attest to that!). Playa Carrizalillo was my favorite for its calm turquoise water perfect for swimming and beginner surfers. Though I heard it could be crowded, it's worth a visit. I also checked out:

Playa Manzanillo & Puerto Angelito
Ideal for families.

Playa Bacocho: Long walks, turtle releases, and sunsets.

Playa Coral: A hidden gem.

Playa Zicatela: Puerto Escondido's surfing mecca.

La Punta Beach: Surfer, backpacker, and hippie vibes.

BEACH UPDATE AT OUR LUXURY BEACHFRONT ACCOMMODATIONS
IN PUERTO ESCONDIDO

Hang loose, fellow pickleballers! 🤙
You know how stoked we are about our upcoming Pickleball and Beach Vacation, but maybe you heard the waves whispering that the beach wasn't swimmable? Wipeout, dudes! That's totally bogus! Turns out, you can definitely hang ten in the ocean – it just depends on when you hit the waves.
This beach bum was a little nervous about the whole ocean thing (never been much of a surfer, ya know? 😜), but I recently checked it out myself. I paddled out, caught some rays, and even did a little boogie boarding (okay, maybe just floating... 😉). Seriously, I waded out like 50 yards and the water was still waist-high! Easy peasy!
The best part? I caught the most epic sunset while bobbing around in the waves. First time for everything, right? 🌅
So, pack your boardshorts, your sunscreen, and your sense of adventure! We're gonna have a blast on and off the court. Cowabunga!

DAY 2 (PUERTO ESCONDIDO, MEXICO) - Our Newest Pickleball and Beach Vacation

SECLUDED BEACH

Today we all got settled into our rooms and started getting to know each other over breakfast. Then, we headed out for lunch at a secluded beach – a hidden gem most people don't know about!

As the sun began to set, we enjoyed delicious, authentic Oaxacan food prepared by a private chef, along with some tasty mezcal and wine. With the sound of the waves, a cool ocean breeze, and good company, it was the perfect way to kick off our pickleball getaway.

PUERTO ESCONDIDO PICKLEBALL GRAND OPENING WAS POSTPONED

Perfection takes time. Similar to the pickleball approach I teach, "rushing often causes mistakes.

DAY 1 - Puerto Escondido, Mexico (New Pickleball Travelers Club Pickleball and Beach Destination)

COOLEST FOOD TRUCK INDOOR SETTING

The coolest indoor food truck setting can be found at the Austin Airport. I visit the food truck and purchase breakfast, tacos and a cup of coffee every time I depart from Austin.

FLIGHTS:

2 Hour Flight from Austin / San Antonio to Mexico City
2 Hour Layover
1 Hour Flight into Puerto Escondido

Flying Aero Mexico Airlines offers you the most flight options. Nevertheless, it is not a direct flight. However, in April of 2025, there will be a direct flight from one of "Texas big cities".

Puerto Escondido Airport is tiny yet offers a view of the ocean.

NEW TRANSPORT VEHICLE

Upon arriving at the Beachfront Accommodations, I noticed the new Nissan 12 seatter dedicated for transporting pickleball players / guests.

After reuniting with our hosts, we begin drinking variations of Mezcal concoctions worthy of being called the "Pickle".

Mezcal is a traditional Mexican alcoholic beverage that is distilled from the heart of the agave plant. It is a cultural expression that tells the story of Mexico, from Aztec rituals to modern distilleries.
