Break out your maroon and gold - this Saturday (11/16) is Texas State University's homecoming game against Southern Miss and we couldn't be more excited!

Bobcats of all ages will be heading to UFCU Stadium for tailgating and cheering their team on to victory. While you may be in town to cheer for your alma mater or join in on your kid’s university fun, there’s plenty to experience in San Marcos after, or before, the game.

Celebrate Veterans Day Weekend in San Marcos, Texas, with events honoring those who served our nation. Start your weekend with the annual Veterans Day Parade at 9am, hosted by SMTX Parks and Recreation. Aviation enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Wings and Warriors Fly-In, starting at 10am at the San Marcos Regional Airport. And, of course, finish Saturday off with the San Marcos Hangar Dinner Dance at the Commemorative Air Force Central Texas Wing, where guests are invited to swing dance to ’40s big band music among restored WWII planes.

Movie lovers won't want to miss the Lost River Film Fest! This four-day (Oct 17-20) offering of new, independent films — culled from across the planet — with screenings in the historic Price Center. In celebration of the tenth anniversary of its theatrical release, opening night will feature a special viewing of Boyhood, the legendary film on adolescence, unconventionally shot over 12 years, in part in Downtown San Marcos.

For a 8th year, Lost River Film Fest returns to Hays County from Oct 17-20, 2024 with a robust offering of new, independent cinema – culled from across the planet – with screenings & adjacent events throughout Downtown San Marcos!

San Marcos has long been a hub for live music, with Cheatham Street Warehouse at the heart of it all. This iconic venue has launched the careers of countless musicians, including George Strait. As it celebrates 50 years (10/20), Cheatham Street remains a cornerstone of the community, where the sounds of tomorrow’s legends still fill the air. But the legacy doesn’t stop there. San Marcos is also home to jazz legend Eddie Durham, whose contributions to swing and bebop are celebrated annually at the Eddie Durham Jazz Festival (10/19). You can learn more about Eddie Durham at the Lost River Film Fest during their (10/18) showing of a documentary about the icon and at Calaboose African American History Museum. And, for a deeper dive into the city’s musical roots, The Wittliff Collections' music exhibition showcases the rich history and influence of artists who have left their mark on Texas music.
