We opened our first camping cabin in December 2014, our first home as a vacation rental in February 2015, the tipi in June 2016 and, in October 2016, our second home debuted as a vacation rental. The two homes alternate as we live in each one for half the year. We also have RV sites in the Selle Valley north of Sandpoint, Idaho, and on Lake Pend Oreille at Hawkins Point, as well as the new Boho be

Quiet and peaceful spots only 15 minutes to downtown Sandpoint or Schweitzer's Red Barn parking lot. Views of the mountains at either location, plus views of and access to Lake Pend Oreille at the Sunnyside/Hawkins Point location. Enjoy a night, a weekend or a whole week in our lovely resort town, "The Most Beautiful Small Town" in the USA. A couple sweet little girls gifted me with these painted rocks just before their family checked out of an RV spot here at Hawkins Point today. Their mom also gifted me something, an adult beverage. That will go to good use this evening!

Praying mantis. I never know what I'm going to find when I do changeovers in the bell tents. This guy was in the gypsy bell tent this morning. It's one of the coolest insects on earth, IMHO!

The camping cabin's new location at Hawkins Point has been a big hit with our guests, as you can see from these comments in the guest book. After being moved from the Selle Valley May 10, it reopened in time for Memorial Day weekend and has hosted several families so far in its first month on Lake Pend Oreille. These delightful guests, Morgan and her just-turned-8-year-old daughter Brooklyn, visited this week from Cochrane, Alberta, Canada to celebrate her milestone. Cheers to the cabin's first summer on the lake!

We're winding down the summer season! The bell tents at Hawkins Point have their lowest rates of the season in October, $80 a night for the Gypsy and $85 a night for the Boho. Catch the fall colors and book a stay before they tents are put away for winter. Don't worry about staying warm in the tents. They have propane heaters that keep them toasty warm!

Good morning! After a few days of poor air quality due to smoke from wildfires, we have glorious blue skies and an AQI of 38, rated "good." We're thankful for the rain that fell yesterday and quieted the fires and cleared the smoky skies. The forecast for the rest of the week is good all the way around. We have availability at Hawkins Point for the house August 27-29, the Gypsy bell tent August 25 and August 27-31, the Boho bell tent August 27-September 1, and the RV site north of the barn August 28-September 1. Our Boho bell tent guest shared these photos she took yesterday morning on the beach. Susan is taking a break this week from her nursery business to decompress at the lake. She describes her time so far as magical, even though the storm she weathered last night was a bit frightening!

We welcomed eight new chicks at Hawkins Point today, six white lace Wyandottes and two leghorns. They join Crystal the lame duck and Vida the Polish hen. Unfortunately a predator killed the rest of our flock two weeks ago: three hens, Classy, Frassy, Watermelon Seed, and our handsome lavender Orpington rooster, Hi Ho Silver. Likely it was a raccoon that tore through the ceiling of chicken wire. Help name our eight newcomers with some new, clever rhyming names!

Your hosts flew around the patch yesterday and made a turn around Hawkins Point, where you can see the Boho bell tent on the beach and the Gypsy bell tent on the hill, plus the rest of the property. A couple celebrating their wedding anniversary this weekend checked into the camping cabin yesterday. I made a little bouquet for them and Mike put up the new hammock chairs on the covered porch. They’re going to be a big hit!

The beach at Hawkins Point has a wonderful new addition, four beautiful chaise lounges! We’re sure our guests will enjoy stretching out while relaxing on the Sunnyside of Lake Pend Oreille. These were a fabulous yard sale find: they’re super sturdy, comfortable, and were made in Spain. They must do chaise lounges right in Spain!

A toad, tiger lilies and a swallowtail butterfly spotted on the Selle Valley property today. I relocated the toad to one of the flower gardens where he can help with bug control.

See inside the bigger-and-better-than-ever Gypsy bell tent! Four additional feet make a huge difference. We could live in this thing! And the huge wooden deck it sits on is fantastic. We're so pleased with how it turned out, and our first guests of the season agree!

A storm blew in as we were working on the beach at Hawkins Point today. We had to abort mission when lightning struck a few miles away. It’s always exciting when storms come across Lake Pend Oreille!

Good morning! We hosts are spending a couple nights on the beach in memory of a dear friend we lost a year ago today. Leah Lokan was our adventure girlfriend who loved all things outdoors. She once lived in a tipi in her youth and especially loved camping in the tipi. Last April on what would be her last trip to Sandpoint she stayed in the brand-new Boho bell tent. We were given a special gift when these Western grebes came calling this morning!

The Selle Valley house is open for the season and features a groovy, new shower! Constructed of a slate floor and metal walls, it fits the Western rustic theme. We hope our guests enjoy the new-and-improved shower. More improvements are yet to come!
