Honors students headed off to Burnett Honors College today to learn about our honors transfer agreement. Our SSC alumni currently at UCF Burnett came to lunch to share slices of wisdom! See what we did there. 😉

Grindle Honors students will be at the Emil Buehler Planetarium at Seminole State College this Saturday to host a fun activity at the Spooky Star Party! Hope to see you all there!

Join the Emil Buehler Planetarium at Seminole State College this Saturday from 5 pm to 10 pm for an evening of celestial observation, spooky crafts, hair-raising science activities, and of course...candy! We encourage everyone to dress up in their Halloween best, and participate in our famous children's costume contest!!

The Spooky Star Party is FREE to attend and all are welcome! There are no tickets needed to attend this event, all you need to do is show up. Activities will be held throughout the entirety of the event.

5pm to 8 pm: Hair-raising science demos, spooky crafts, solar telescope observing, and more!
8 pm to 10 pm: Astronomical observing with the Emil Buehler Plantarium, Central Florida Astronomical Society, and UCF Astronomical Society.

We encourage costumes and don't forget to bring your trick-or-treat bags because all of our guests will be passing out lots of CANDY!

Grindle Students - Idyllwilde Elementary PTA needs your help!! Many parents at that school work and cannot volunteer to run their book fair. Please, if you can, volunteer for a Monstrous Event! What a fun way to earn service hours and remember how amazing book fairs are!

1. Sign up for a block or two of time.
2. You need to also register as a dividends volunteer with SCPS.

Oh my goodness! I wish I would have had time to take photos today. The Honors Center was buzzing with students and faculty and staff dropping by. It was a reminder of why we spend so much time building community and encouraging students to find their community. My heart is full this evening. 💙💛 What a great first day of the fall semester!!!

What does a Readers’ Advisory Group do? I am glad you asked...the Book Nerds Readers’ Advisory Group will help the library promote our leisure reading collection. The group will meet monthly and help us review current books, select new additions for the library collection, and plan bookish events, including silent book clubs and special library celebrations such as Banned Books Week and National Library Week.
